@nikon-nut your B&W shots in your Flickr album are stunning. You have inspired me to get back to my roots and shoot B&W again. By roots I mean my first Brownie box camera. Check It Out

The colors reflected on the water drew me to this scene.

@damonbiggins I like some of the other shots in your series better. Or the un-cropped version maybe. The fountain sprays add another interesting element for me. IMO The posted shot doesn’t tell the story of the fountain as well.
I know what you mean about the remote. Took one to Paris for the night shots with my 6D and really got into…[Read more]

@fibonacci, remember that it is only my opinion. Don’t change a photo that you like because of it. The Shark Tank is a great place to get input from others but take pictures of things because you like them and don’t worry too much about us critics.Check It Out

I am originally from SoCal so I am familiar with the places you mention. Very dramatic environs to work with. Have fun and keep posting.Check It Out

I agree with @nikon-nut. There is nothing to get my attention at the end of the perspective. If it was early in the morning the light might make a difference – more mysterious. As in what is there in the mist?Check It Out

Your photo is stark which suits the environment and I think the tone range and contrast are excellent. The lone tree tells a story for me. Did you envision this in B&W? I know I’m supposed to be critical here so maybe there are some highlights that are too bright. There, critical.Check It Out

I like the composition but the upper face and hair seem a little fuzzy to me. A little more depth of field would have put his entire head in focus. The arm leads me to his face. Nicely done, thanks for sharing.Check It Out

Thanks for the feedback @jackal187. Good question on the focal point. I was actually drawn to to the color on the water as it led to the Louvre. The building was almost incidental. That’s why the foreground is all about the water. I have another shot with more of the building but the reflections are not as dominant so I choose this one.Check It Out

Not usually a fan of vignettes. The stuff on the left side of your photo is a little distracting. The cat and bag compete for the eye. Very sharp on the cat’s eyes & face though which ultimately get my attention.Check It Out
