This is from a photo shoot I participated in over the weekend. I wanted to try a wide angle with flash shooting up at the sky. My goal was to balance the shot with daylight and flash. I also wanted to make sure that the subject was not terribly distorted by the wide angle. I had to do some cloning to get ride of some greenery and cars. Comments appreciated.
Thank God I'm a Country Gal

    • A nicely balanced shot all round, Karen. Techically speaking, you’ve done well in a difficult situation. Composition wise, its very pleasing to these old eyes. Nice proportions, well placed subject matter, good use of textures and colours, background and foreground. Nice perspective as well. This is a good environmental portrait as well. The subject seems quite relaxed and at home in the surroundings. She seems to know what she’s doing in front of the camera as well. That can be a big help. I reckon this would do well as May in a Country Life calendar. The only thing going through my head is, I might have moved one step to the right to reduce the impact of the bright white clouds, but I wasn’t there. As far as I know there could have been a large cow pad in that spot and I would have deserved standing in it.
      Well done.

    • Thank you so much for taking time to offer your constructive criticism. I think you are right about moving over a bit. There was another photographer who had staked out the spot next to me and he was not going anywhere. I do see what you mean about the cloud, though.

    • Thank you mopho. It was a fun shot.
