I am a 69-year old retiree who uses photography as my go-to getting away from it all. I learned photography while getting my journalism degree in college (UTEP – 1968) but put the still camera down for a career in video production. After my wife died and I retired, I bought a Nikon D-90 and started shooting again. Not doing much with my work except for Face Book postings and work for my church documenting events.
What got me interested in digging deeper into photography is a shot I took in 1967 in front of the White House gates in DC of an older homeless gentleman finishing off a bottle of liquor. Helped me realize to be ready at anytime for a photo opportunity. I hope to continue learning and improving my skills.

Hi there, we may be comrades in a way. My photographic skills have less background than yours; I only took snapshots when I was younger in between. Now I am retired I am taking up photography again and am learning a lot from books, various websites etc. I have given up facebook though.
My main interests are landscapes and nature, occasionally a macro shot. I also joined only yesterday.

Steven, welcome to Lightstalking. I look forward to seeing your images. That early shot from 1967 sounds pretty cool!
