This week, I’m giving a double win to Patrick @patrickw.
Pat uploaded two outstanding images that really stood out to me.
Of the two, I’m giving the winning nod to this wonderful wildlife shot of a bird perched on a barbed-wire fence.
In the comments section of the original upload, Diane (a.k.a. Tersha) made this comment, which sums up my…[Read more]

I’ve been heavily involved in photography for a little over 45 years now.
It isn’t too often that a photo comes up on my screen, stops me in my tracks, and makes say out loud, “Wow!”
This is one of those images.
Congratulations to Joanne on her POTW win.
I also have a second-place winner. This shot also stopped me in my tracks. It’s a…[Read more]

The simplest way to do a localized edit in Lightroom or the Photoshop
ACR window is to use the Adjustment Brush. -

This week the POTW goes to Dahlia Ambrose @dahliaambrose for her mesmerizing capture of birds in flight.
It’s hard to take your eyes off of this shot; it’s so beautiful.
Congratulations to Dahlia.
I have an honorable mention. Tom M @tojomor took an old well-known concept and created something new and interesting with it. That is the very…[Read more]

Sometimes a POTW worthy image is about being in the right place at the right time and having your camera ready.
This is definitely one of those photographs!
Congratulations to Saranathan A @saranathan-a for his beautiful landscape photo that was well captured in Norway.

This is how I envisioned the crop pulling the rock formation forward and increasing its dominance in the scene.
After playing around with the crop tool, this is what I ended up with.
Using the Adjustment Brush, I did the following-
1. Darkened the mountains and sky in the background. I didn’t increase the color saturation because I didn’t…[Read more]

I think this shot is satisfactory but lacks a ‘wow’ factor. I can see what you were trying to do with the taller rock formation. However, visually, it’s lost in the surrounding landscape. You indicated that you didn’t want others to edit your photos- otherwise I would have shown you what I’m about to say. I think a vertical crop that moves the…[Read more]

I like it. Your tone placement in the b&w conversion is spot-on. It is evident that the subject matter is moving water. However, the ice does add a ‘mystery’ effect that requires further observation.

Every once in a while, you come across a photograph that the moment you see the image, it smacks you in the eyes.
For me, this is one of those photos.
It is an extraordinary blend of shape, color, and tone.
It is most definitely a POTW shot.
Congratulations to David Chesterfield for knocking me off my chair on a Monday morning!
