I have had a camera in my hands since I was 8 years old. So, I have been looking through a variety of viewfinders for nearly 69 years. A bit over four years ago I was invited to enroll in a 3 year professional photography program at Peru’s leading photography school. I completed a year and a half when I realized that there are other things far more important in my life (traveling and grandchildren) that being a full time student was depriving me of. Nonetheless, it reignited my passion.

I now spend 70-80% of time photographing or working in the digital darkroom. In addition to my I-Phone I  don’t leave home without my Lumix ZS70.

Awakened two mornings ago to this beauty. Created with Sony AR and 24-70mm at f:3.5.

Cactus FlowerComments and critiques always welcome.

Pin sharp, great Bokeo, wrong position in the frame ;(

This image, I believe needs to be flipped 180 deg to put the flower in the top RH corner.

We (in the West) read top to bottom and left to right which means your eye naturally moves across the empty space beside the flower, to the heart of the subject.  Not as is shown, going straight to the subject and moving across into the space beside it.

Not a hard and fast rule, but does apply in general, as in any subjective topic!

As Lincoln said, this is tack sharp, great bokeH, and tremendous rendition to B&W. Makes me wonder what the color version looks like…

@fotografodeparque Hi Stephen, welcome to the forums and good to have you here. That’s a beautiful image of the cactus flower.

In terms of critique, the rim of the pot seems to be a bit distractive, maybe slightly darken it. Also, would like to see more space around the flower – top and left side.

If you are looking for constructive critiques on your images, please post them in the shark tank forum where more members can see and comment – link below.

I love this version Stephen. The subtle colours and the mood in the image are perfect in my opinion 🙂
