Hi all, thanks for having me aboard! My name is Rose-Marie and I live in Washington State in the USA. I have always wanted to create beautiful pictures like the ones my mother and grandfather took. My mother made gorgeous images in her photography classes decades ago; my favorite is of my infant brother with the sunlight spilling from the window through the fabric of his pajamas…it made me fall in love with light. While no specific photograph my grandfather’s stands out in my memory, his images of dilapidated barns impacted my life by inspiring me to live rurally. To me that is a testimony to the power of his photographs.
My journey past snapshots and into “real” photography became possible a year ago with my husband’s gift of a Nikon DSLR and all the wonderful education online. I’ve crammed the year with daily practice, online photography classes and with oodles of reading on sites like this and others. I have a long way to go, but it’s a wonderful journey! I appreciate being included in the online community here; many thanks.
