Hello everyone. I am in need of some help with a “project.” I have been asked to take some photos of some products for the portfolio of an artist and for submission to an artist tour pamphlet. I have purchased and amzeal light box for myself. I have been trying a few different things to solve the glare I get on the products, but I am having a lot of trouble. In the photo you can see the glare, but there is also a large section that is quite dark. The inside of the box is reflective, there are 3 led lightbars (I am only using 2) and have used an number to things to diffuse the light. As you can see the design is fairly intricate with multiple colours involved. This picture is a little out of focus, but I am trying to get the the glare out first then I will take the pictures for my friend. This is also my first attempt at product photography. I would really appreciate any suggestions you have for me to try. I have to have the pictures by the end of the month.

Allows Edits? YesHi John, I had to Google the light box as I haven’t seen that one before … it says in the specs that it has a light diffuser, are you using one of those?
I use a Lightbox/tent sometimes, but I have to use light outside to diffuse the light to avoid glare.-

Hi Tersha, yes I have the diffuser in place but it doesn’t seem to do what I think it should. I have also put in some freezer paper to help but it hasn’t helped either.

I agree with Diane that the light needs to be from outside the box and would add that the light should also be diffused in addition to the diffusion of the box itself. A reflector can also be useful to fill light in where needed.

Hi Rob, the only opening in this type of light box is from the front and a small opening at the top. The sides don’t allow for light to penetrate. It is frustrating. I got this one because of the size. The light tent I found wasn’t big enough. This one is 80 x 80 cm.

Allows Edits? Yes@jc8324 Hello John, I really think the best thing to do would be to watch a couple of detailed tutorials on YouTube. I have worked as a product photographer in studio for a while and there are many different parameters you have to keep in mind and many many different tricks when it comes to product styling and shooting.
Be very selective in terms of depth of field (shouldn’t be shallow) and framing. The main shot should include the entire product with a certain amount of negative space around it and a few additional images should focus on the details of the product you’re shooting.
The shots needs to be tack sharp, basically perfect, for product photography. Use strong but even lighting, fast shutter speed, low iso, and if there is a strange glare on the surface of the product, the common trick is to put black cardboard on the left and right of the product (it won’t be visible in the final image).
