Who am I?

Hello folks. Kaleem Sayyed based out of Little Rock, Arkansas. I guess I inherited the photography bug from my dad. My dad sometimes “allowed” me to play around with his Yasicha, Minolta, Nikon and extremely rarely Hasselblad under strict supervison. I remember my first Kodak instamatic with the cube flash. He eventually gave me my first camera, a Nikon with some prime Nikon glass lenses.

After the introduction of DSLR, I got my first Canon Rebel, then got back to Nikon and now in the Sony environment. I have a Sony a 7r IV with a “quadrinity” of telephoto lenses. 15-24mm, 24-70 GM, 70-200 mm and 200-600mm. I also previously owned a Leica M240 with a 50 mm Summarit lens. Awesome, awesome rangefinder. I sold it last month alongwith a few vintage glass lenses to finance a Leica Q3. I remember my dad’s medium format Hasselblad and always wanted a medium format. So saved up and bought a Xid ii 50C with a 45 P lens. So now instead of a lens trinity, I have a camera body trinity.

I enjoy taking pictures of basically anything that interests me, but mainly landscapes, wildlife, flowers. I am also interested in astro and have taken my first star trails, but would love to do milky way as well. Haven’t been successful as yet. I also want to delve into some portrait photography and developing a small studio set up with OTC lights.

About 2010, I moved from Auto to fully M 🙂 and RAW only. I develop my pictures using Capture One. I enjoy the creative nature of photography but I am still old-fashioned in terms of changing, modifying or altering the pictures I take (until absolutely needed). I still consider myself as a student of photography and love to learn more from folks around me.
