@falx Thank you very much – you are very kind π
Yes – that is the problem with this image for me… it was an aside, an extra shot where I walked around beside him & asked him to look at me … he was seated infront of more relevant tools which were closer to him… so i lost the context but I love the connection. I am willing to overlook it ;)…[Read more] -

Thanks for the tips guys :).
I am just learning to use Ps after spending my 1st few years with digital in Lr – which I love, I used to do pretty much all my pp in Lr & would normally do my dodging & burning there. But as I am learning how to use Ps I am doing all my editing there to see what I can do.. Lr is certainly easier for me to use & does…[Read more] -

@michael-lloyd Thanks, I lightened them a little using a masked levels adjustment.. but that’s a much better idea, I have used that method before but not masked… Thanks again π
@admin – thanks for that… knew it would be something simple I missed!

I removed the blue spots, & also increased the local contrast with the unsharp mask…
That doesn’t seem to be working… any clues??Check It Out

Yes it’s a 50mm prime… You are right I could have increased the ISO & used a quicker shutter but I was trying to capture the movement of the sparks – which aren’t in this shot.. I chose this image as opposed to others with the sparks because of the connection with him, I’m really only interested in him & as long as the viewer gets the idea of…[Read more]

@tobiepsg – yes you are right, when I say high I am talking 1600, 2000… I have pushed it up to 4000 & got ok results as long I expose it well, there’s no saving detail from the shadows at 4000!! I also have a D4 which I usually shoot with but on this day I had somehow managed to change my image area (aspect ratio) still in RAW… & didn’t have…[Read more]

@michael-lloyd Yes I agree.. Too late for this shoot but I will work on it for the next ones.. Your feedback is really appreciated – cheers!
@diogo405 – That was my issue with this photo too, there is nothing to tell the story of this mans ‘life lived’ but I really like his expression & to me there feels like a real connection… shame I…[Read more]

lives lived series β image 3 re redit by Billie Leatham on Light Stalking
You are right @michael-lloyd – I am practicing working with people, really trying to get a connection in my images at the moment, lighting this was just a bit beyond me for now. I was roaming around as he worked the forge with little room so also wasn’t practical but I c…[Read more]

@cladia-betia
All fair points… Especially the title & the lack of autumn colours, I have these posted on flickr & just called them all autumn wedding & did the same here. Sorry to disappoint you π
The light was tricky, & it was actually fairly dark when I shot this, it was the last of the day before we headed to the reception, there was a…[Read more] -

This is beautifully done. The composition is great, the lighting wonderful… I understand that it’s displaying a little darker than intended, and that would have been my only critique… Really nice work πCheck It Out

1st serious wedding shootautumn wedding by Billie Leatham on Light Stalking
I have shot a few weddings over the years, unpaid for family & friends. I have learned a lot & have higher standards than I once did, so going into this one I was more nervous than I had been for previous weddings even though it was another family wedding, I wanted to do…[Read more] - Load More
