The “mood” of the photo is perfect, with a balance of light and dark which pleases my eye.
I would have composed a little differently, placing the right hand post right at photo edge, and raise the camera slightly to capture the angle/junction of that vertical and the upper beam or back up a tad to capture both that upper junction and the…[Read more]

Interesting scene, but not compelling.
If the dark area on the lower right is a shadow of the tree, I would expand the scene, moving the tree further left, and capture the complete shadow at lower right.Check It Out

Keep thinking the top sky of that photo is just dead space, so I cropped in close and “boosted the drama”.
Maybe too much?

Breaking the ruleI like this composition, but the horizon in the middle breaks the rule of thirds.
Or does the rock frame salvage the scene?

Does this composition workI like the composition, but the centered horizon breaks the rules.
Or does the “opening in the rock” substitute?

I didn’t like all that blank space on the left, so I did this. Unfortunately it now obscures the background angel somewhat.
I wonder if I can talk that butterfly into posing for me one more time.

I’m logged in fine, but when I go there it doesn’t recognize that I am logged in.

The composition is near perfect!
I wish there were a way to “detune” the reflected lights in the foreground water.
In my eye, the “real” attraction of the scene is the dome in the upper left. It is perfectly exposed, and would be complimented by the foreground reflection, if that reflection was not so “brilliant” and “harsh”. (Sorry, I’m…[Read more]

This is a compelling image, and the tension between the urgent red of the life ring and the soft misty counterpoint of the waterfall is masterful.
Maybe this treatment is right, but I wish there was a way to bring up some detail in the dark left foreground and the right background, at least for a look.Check It Out

Help me!Friend of mine took this shot on Lake Vermilion in northern Minnesota.
I fiddled with it a little to remove some lens flare marks, but would like to “tone down” the blown out light track below the setting sun.
Tools available to me are PS Elements 11, PS Elements 12, Paint.net, Photomatix Pro 5.0, Paint.net, and IRFANVIEW.

Since this isn’t the shark tank, I gotta be nice.
The upper foreground cherry blossoms (?) are awesome.
But my eye keeps getting drawn to the blurry orange construction in the background.

The representation of motion is excellent.
Image might be stronger if he was two steps further to get a consistent color in the brick background without the grey-to-brown transition just behind him.

Love waterfalls. This is a great scene.
But the framing leaves me wondering what I’m missing to the left.

The tiny “seascape” alluded in the title is inconsequential in the scene, lost to me, completely subordinate to the unremarkable foreground.Check It Out
