My eye is drawn to the red rock and white sky just above center, so I think it works, @blacksilver. You should post it in the shark tank for a better critique. Check It Out

Hi @blacksilver,
In looking at the first image, I find that my eyes are drawn to the angel rather than the butterfly. Then I notice that the angel’s head is partially missing, and I don’t see the right wing, (unless that it what is to the right of the angel’s face,). I think my eyes go there because there is a lot of contrast between the bright…[Read more]

@jrl7 Welcome José, you’ll enjoy the forum. We’re mostly amateurs here (by far), all trying to improve our skills and to get an idea of what others think of our attempts to look like pro’s ;-).
If you want honest & frank critique on your pics, place them in the shark tank (ST) and then prepare for the worst. At least you’ll be certain that…[Read more]

Beautiful shot, @blacksilver Color is striking and draws the viewer in. The blue sky at top tends to explain the light falling on the mountain range so I think it is necessary and provides a nice contrast to the thick band of clouds. Keep the dark foreground which is caused by the cloud cover. It might look unnatural if you tried to lighten it.…[Read more]

@tobiepsg it is funny you mention width. Since I learned to do panoramas I rarely shoot just one image of something unless it is fairly close. I always to two or three and stitch them together. My main reason is for larger prints and not have my pic lose sharpness. My camera is only 12mp which is fine really. Since some of my images are about…[Read more]

You’re right @nikon-nut when I saw this, I was wondering why you’re giving critique on your own pic – and then I went back and saw that it was not yours! 🙂
I like your last version @blacksilver. The only thing remaining in my mind: it screeeeaaaamms for more width! I think a composite of 3 pics (minimum) would have shot this scene into another…[Read more]

Thank you @ed-aldridge and @blacksilver for your keen eyes and willingness to share your thoughts with me 🙂
I see you points. A blurrier background would have pulled out the flower more. But I was worried that I would then also have a very shallow depth of field on the flower head, as it’s quite wide. It’s always a balancing act with DOF. But…[Read more]

The women foot off. Shutter speed is the reason her hair is blurry a little. The picture is crooked. Her face is slightly over exposed. Like @blacksilver mentioned, you are not balanced in this shot. Instead of asking someone to move, I would have moved to where they were balanced. I would bring the exposure down in post processing (or take a…[Read more]
