What a great start in ones ‘photography life’, I do my best to help my son Jason who’s 7 – he’s keen. For some reason he uses his mums iphone n not my HTC?…..
Niiice shot, I don’t go near apple but jee I love the pics. My wife has a fruity thing and we have some nice rivalry. ๐
The Falx – thanks muchly, yep I had a go at ‘lifting the sky’ but I must do the whole pic, (not a P Shopper). I agree looking at it, Irene stated it needed more brightness, some brightness may even reduce that?…
I’m working away from home just now and limited with resources – gotta tackle this later – if I get a chance.
Thanks muchly Irene, I’ll sus it out n get back.
Great shots from everyone, sorry I missed it. Love your light shot Gordon. ๐
Aww come on Simon, that looks like my Penang HDR! ๐
Cheers LJA, so much to think about. ๐
Cheers Yeoh, on that comment in your first comment I used a Photomatix preset. I worked in Butterworth 81 to 83, loved Penang. Bought my first cameras there, an Olympus OM1, then OM2. Now in Kerteh East Malaysia.
Here’s my modified pic, sorry for being late to post it. I took all comments on board and did what I could with my DxO Pro. Cropping the left at the curled wave and having the well-positioned horizon led to having the small black clouds in the LH upper corner so I cropped further in. Still a bit there but I left it. Couldn’t improve the sky only, added a bit more vibrancy to the whole pic without going stupid on it.
I learnt a lot from this and for me the main thing is – you can only do so much with what you have. What’s that about a silk purse and a pigs ear?….
Thanks, Tobie – I know what you mean regarding the real/surreal thing. DxO Pro has a slider you can use to achieve this and it’s tempting to get ‘more’ out of the picture at times, but it gets so far that it doesn’t look right at a certain point.
Thanks LJA for the hints, I don’t have software to remove things or dodge n burn separate parts so I won’t be changing this one. Albirders comment last year regards the branches firmly stuck in my mind and I have been conscious of it a lot and have tried to ‘not do that since’ although there are a few slips here n there. ๐
Thanks muchly for the extra info, I’ll definitely suss it all out. Cheers.
Cheers Irene when I finally I get PS I can have a go at it. ๐
Havin a good chuckle now, maybe a savage dog could do the trick. I agree “what do people think – us photographers should have rights”!
Actually on that subject there is a lot of people out there that cannot see you are trying to do something and a curse word or two must be held back…….I’m having a chuckle as this picture is a tad embarrassing for me now.
Even though it has been dug up accidentally I have put more thought into all your latest comments and have a definitely improved mindset regards HDR now.
You guys have proven to me that one has to be very careful with HDR. Thanks for adding your dislike & I do mean that in a nice way. ๐ Cheers. Thanks muchly Tobie I won’t. I’ll stick with what I have for now and make a ‘D’ in the new year. Cheers.

Cheers Big Fuzzy for the time to help with your comments. I’ll take on all comments from everyone and have a serious think about HDR and how I use it.
Thanks muchly SnowQueen for the good info – I’ll go slowly.
