Hi @nikon-nut, nice to see this image – we used to live in Henderson and have been out that way a few times. As to the line of grasses – and it’s wonderful to see such contrast in life after a short rain – instead of lower could you get higher to see where the grasses end and the rocks begin? Just another thought… thanks

That’s beautiful – one to put on the wall! If you don’t like the colors/contrast, just walk them back a little to your liking. Don’t know why it seems that way after cropping. But the details of the white petals are what make this for me…nice.

Yeah, don’t use your post as an opportunity to cut someone else. Tiresome crap!

I love the second photo – certainly a look so many of us have seen, and can’t resist in dogs. It struck me as similar to a photo treatment in a recent series of abstracts:
The white doggie I’d like to see in a larger framing, she seems so covered up we can’t get an idea of her personality.

Whilst fighting over real life vs.manufactured – could the lamp fixture be gotten rid of, and perhaps even the mic? That would bring more focus to the singer, perhaps letting us forget (or ignore) that we can’t see her eyes. Just a thought…

Is it my eyes, or is there a slight halo-ing where the building meets the sky? And maybe you could get a little more white out of those clouds? Maybe? Otherwise I like it.Check It Out

I think the version in sepia works best with the subjects’ natural skin tone, but it’s true you did lose some detail in the headdress on the left. Maybe you ca get some of that back. But there’s a nice warm feeling going on here that’s great to see. Nice capture.

Yes, I agree with valeryp, some sort of play with light/shadows over these books. Plus maybe a lower perspective, beinga bale to make out a title or two…Check It Out

Hi @admin,
Thank you. Unfortunately, I have no more room on the left, but I will try the crop you suggest – yes, be much cleaner without the table.

The blurred families don’t bother me, I think this would work as part of a tryptich or series. After all, the subjects all know who they are. However, I find it a tad over-exposed – but not so much you couldn’t get some back . Check the main ladie’s blouse. I think it was a good idea as part of a series.

I like this image as well. I see alot of tension here. The lights and darks of the stairs are mirrored somewhat in the clouds. My eye follows the stairs up, but when it reaches the figure and sky, I don’t know if he is to continue up, or going to be encompassed/crushed by that sky. One thing, maybe in PS or whichever editor you use, maybe use…[Read more]

Hi,
Thanks again Ritesh. I had a good time at this event, even though shooting through plexiglass! I really had only two spots to shoot from, so had to pick my frame and wait for someone to walk in/nearby. The #4 photo has such a different temp. than the others, I think because of the wall behind him, that it was really jarring to my eye.…[Read more]

Hi, thanks for the further info. I checked the link, and it looks like quite a disastrous fire – such a shame for a place so loved by the community. There was also a link there to shots of ‘before the fire’ which I checked out. In particular there was one taken at dawn with a lovely pink/orange sky just behind the piers’ buildings. It would…[Read more]

Sorry, I didn’t see you had posted this afterward. Yes, this brings us closer, but I still have very little sense of the pier. I can’t tell if it’s burnt out, or under construction. The photo would work to accompany a story describing what the pier once was, and the catastrophic fire that left it ‘derelict.’ By itself, not so much.

The sky is definitely working for you here! But as Valeryp states, the pier itself is so very small in the frame. I have no sense of the desolation left by the fire. From the looks of it, it would be tricky to get any closer – except by boat, or with a very long lens. From what you mention of the fire, I’m really curious to see the pier’s…[Read more]

I like this photo, but wonder if there was a way you could decrease the DoF to blur the line btwn the edge of your tabletop and the backdrop? Is the hot spot maybe a tad too hot?Check It Out
