No it’s not really a photo done for the casual viewer which is why I started out with saying it was supposed to depict karma. It was a photography class assignment in which I had a few days to photograph karma.
I found it a very elusive concept so opted to go heavy on symbolism. I couldn’t come up with another idea given the small amount of time. Maybe given more time I could’ve not gone this route but hey……. that’s art school 🙂
Thanks for your thoughts.
ok thanks for your thoughts. The veil color is black for it’s symbolism. White or another color would not have the same meaning.
Is not a shot for friends or inner circle. It was an assignment to depict karma. This photo does not have a personal statement for me which is why I ask if one can perceive karma; the assigned exercise.
No source on the spot? Please clarify as I’m not sure I understand your point.
For me if a photograph of people is of their backs then the view they are witnessing has to have impact, or the fact that the shot comes from behind has to have a purpose. In this case there’s no focal point.
No jhadist definitely not the idea.
I guess it’s important to understand the symbolism of the “props”. The black veil is represents renunciation of worldly pleasures. Desire is the primary cause of human suffering. To eliminate this suffering one must eliminate desire by renouncing the pursuit of worldly pleasures.
The figure is perched on a ledge representing the precarious nature of our place in life. The hands held in Namaste demonstrate the leap of faith that Karma is in its essence and pays homage to its grandiose nature.
Though visually blinded to how the dominoes may land one surrenders in Namaste behind their orbit and succumb to the circular field in the hopes of peace, with the intention of having some effect or influence in the direction of our lives (a thing that often threatens to ignore our innermost desires and pleadings).

I’m not sure but me thinks I detect a bit of a wise cracker here
I can’t help but wonder what the person that parked there afterwards thought 🙂
I would have liked to hear their thoughts 🙂
