@nikon-nut That’s good to know. @cadmium-dreams might like to know which specific Sigma lenses are working for you. If one has image stabilization and a focal length of at least 200mm that might be a good choice for her.

@aarongies @cadmium-dreams I have two Sigma lenses and I love both of them. I have two Nikon primes (one non AI) but use the Sigmas the most.
@jpninanjohn the problem with this pic is there are the light zones are to far apart. You have bright sunlight and shadows. The camera cannot “see” properly because of that separation. If you meter…[Read more]

The radio triggers use a different technology, you can be behind the camera and up to a few hundred feet away with them.
On lenses – so much depends on budget but the Canon 70-300 f/4-5.6 IS might be a good choice for you.
It’s gives good results at a reasonable price.
Lenses from Tokina and Sigma can be good to but I…[Read more]

Hi @cadmium-dreams, you’re welcome, thanks for the mention which pulled me back to this thread.
I hope I’m not stepping on @nikon-nut‘s toes here but I’ll take the opportunity to expand on my use of filters a bit.
I keep UV filters on my lenses as I see only positives, except for the small additional expense.
In my experience one of the…[Read more]

@cadmium-dreams you should not see any difference using a UV filter. A UV filter reflects ultra violet light. The main reason some photographers use them is merely lens protection. Others will say just keep the hood on all of the time and do not use a UV filter. Filters that change the image can be colored filters or neutral density filters.…[Read more]

@cadmium-dreams. I like the square format, but unfortunately the shot lacks sharpness; probably this was a hand-held shot. A tripod, or sturdy support is essential for this kind of shots to achieve sharpness especially, if as you said, you made the shot outside. Care must also be taken to reduce excessive highlights like the underrside of the…[Read more]

What a cutie @cadmium-dreams! I really like the monochrome one.
I use flickr to host my photos because I am too lazy to resize photos for here and one can see the larger sizes when they click it. I just copy and paste the htmls into the post and it is done. I do not know how to do it with the photos from the albums in this site.
It doesn’t…[Read more]
