The frame isn’t straight, it’s quite off putting. I like the concept though!
Where is the focal point here? What were you trying to capture? The composition is weak, the colours are dull and the trees in the foreground are underexposed.
When going on a shoot, try and have a theme or concept before you go – it helps to plan as then you will have a general idea of what it is you want to capture.
Is it me or does it need straightening in PS slightly?…
Below is the colour version – I am a bit biased as always have and will love black and white photography. Thanks for the comments, I thought it may need cropping a bit but loved the texture in the grass so chose not to – I will duplicate and crop though!
Taken at Witley Court Gardens in Worcestershire – f/22, 1/80secs, ISO 100 @ 18mm. Edited using Camera Raw, PhotoShop CS6 and Silver Efex Pro. Please critique.
Thanks all for the feedback, much appreciated – it has helped me a lot đŸ™‚
@nikon-nut The underexposed wall is due to it being a really sunny day which created harsh shadows, could be edited though. I think it’s just over editing by me I’m afraid – I wanted to create an effect similar to using an ND filter but it was a quick job and obviously went a bit far. The area in which this image was taken is a favourite of mine, it is very urban and perfect for the landscapes that I like photographing.
@fredf Again, this is because of the weather. Thanks, I do like strong tones and incorporating a lot of texture into my images.
@pmarione I will try that on PS and post the results! Thanks for the feedback, much appreciated đŸ™‚
Thanks for the feedback @pmarione – I had a go at editing this image again using Camera Raw to bump up the exposure, created a levels layer in PhotoShop to add deeper tones and cropped as you said. Any better?
