@Yumarena, you are right. Thank you.
@LightStalking, good point about the white sky.
Based on your comments, I have created this new version:<br>Santuario di Madonna di San Luca – Bologna, Italy by CJ Glynn on Light Stalking
Agree with @Tobiespg about the need for more breathing room at the bottom of the frame. And @Yumarena is right that the blotchiness in the sky is distracting.
Color differs from monitor to monitor and is especially bad on laptops.
If you want to get serious about digital photography, invest in an i1 Display Pro and you will never have to guess about color again. It will also help you if you want to soft proof and then print.
[No, I am not a paid representative of Xrite. I just am a devoted user of the product.]
Maybe a diffuser held above and to the left to soften the light a little?
As @Thombar and @Easterner2012 said, the BG is _really_ distracting. Shooting from a lower angle may have helped.
Blurred shells in the lower left foreground are a bit distracting, as is the hot spot in the upper middle right.
Horizon is almost in the middle of the frame. Not really that good for this shot. The pines protruding from the bottom of the frame are a bit distracting.
September 17, 2014 at 8:29 pm in reply to: Night Photography, just learning so love the feedback #151188Was the bridge really that color the night you shot this? Last time I was there the lights were yellowish … +1 to JBirkman’s idea of cropping out some of the blank sky at the top.
Would like to see the guitar a bit brighter than the background.
Thank you all for the (justified) critiques.
Despite the fact that all of us über-photographers have are own opinions about what is and what is not “good” HDR, this photo reached a Pulse of 88.3 (out of 100, a rather high rating) on 500px.com.
Good shooting,
–CJThx to all for your comments. It’s time to take another run at Rodeo Beach with more exposures with a wider EV range and some clouds.
+1 for a little lens correction in Lightroom to straighten up the buildings.
Sorry, but it really doesn’t _say_ anything to me. One has to _look_ to find the main subject.
Also white pillow in background pulls attention away from her face as @Thombar says. It needs to be toned down. Not sure a blur will take care of it, though.
Agree with Gkt1234. Nice viewpoint. Would rather see the wheel aligned symmetrically across the frame.
Light-colored vertical bands in the background are a bit distracting.
Would like to see the entirety of his tail.Nice saturation. People are a distraction to the serenity of the image.
Blown out highlights on upper right could either be fixed or cropped out.
Try to amp the detail in the ice.
The cut off sign in the middle left does not help the image. In future, you may want to move things like that for your shot and then put them back when through.Keep shooting.
Shadow on the left is disturbing.
The metal post juxtaposed with the bird is a bit odd. Would rather see him on a tree branch or something.
Would hope to see more detail in the feathers.Keep shooting!
Tried to increase the contrast in the BG. Thoughts?
