The classic filters for midday lighting are the circular polarizer (CPL) and the Neutral Density (ND) filters which come in varying strengths. They are both extremely useful.

I guess I don’t really need to repeat what pretty much everyone has said already, but in the interest of being complete I will: there is not enough space the in foreground. It’s a good start. spend some time playing around with the various adjustment tools. You can’t break anything, you can always revert to the original if you mess up.

This photo has a lot of potential, but it needs a little word. You need to adjust the levels a bit, bring out the colours in the sky, and add a bit of pop. I also agree that the rock at the bottom needs to go, but make sure you crop just above it to preserve as much of the beach as possible, and the reflection of the sun.
