Terrific input and thanks! I must admit that this was a very quick over the shoulder shot as I was leaving after a day of photographing birds and I wish I had taken more time because I loved the colors of the storm.Check It Out

Shot as jpeg, ISO 400, f13, lens Canon 15-85mm…shot on auto as I was walking past. The sun was setting on the right side of the photo behind the church and bouncing off the windows in a building (not seen) at the side of the church. I did push highlights a little and stretched for perspective distortion. I like the size perspective given by…[Read more]

I personally think the eyes closed, while not traditional and less compelling, do tell a little story. The right bird needs to be sharper and I would have cropped away some of the space at the top.Check It Out

I joined, got time to post one photo, and have had personal life interrupt my work here, but hope to get back to this forum. It is the best thing that has happened to LR. The photographers are really patient and honest and even if I am not posting a photo I learn SO MUCH from just reading their perspectives on other’s photos. HIGH FIVE!

Nicely done, ukadriangj and the HDR does balance the contrast. I guess I will have to start working on HDR as my next step to master if I want to continue to try this high contrast shots.

The camera was on auto and the flash fired, which I kind of liked in retrospect. I was not using tripod but on my knees in the grass. The graduated filter is attached by a ring and is Cokin P. 121 M F/11,shutter speed at 1/200. I think I consciously framed to include the trees, but they were no so heavy when seen through the viewfinder. I…[Read more]

i used a filter over the outside of the camera but still got some blowout on the sun. I did not post process except to darken the horizon line. Taken with a Canon EOS and wide angle lens in auto mode. Suggestions welcome. I have a rhinoceros hide, so have at it!

Took this a few nights ago while playing with a gradient filter I purchased to keep the skies from being white. The setting sun is still blown out. I used a Canon EOS with an EF 15-58 lens. I have done very little post processing except to darken the horizon line. Suggestions on how to use a filter like this? How to improve this?
