Jim, you captured the right moment and it’s a great shot.
Since you post it in the ST….
I think the shot would have been better at 1/2000s at ISO 500. That should take care of the motion blur. Because of the motion blur, I can’t really tell where the focus is. It might even be on the eyes… -

I Like your image. However, the title suggests more something like this:

Love the shot, just a bit too many distractions.
I like the wider shot, but when I cloned the seals on the left out, it was unbalanced. So a bit closer and moved the clouds a tad. -

Hi Marty, the crop is better but the problem with your image is that the flowers are in the shadow and the BG is in the sun. Dodging and burning can’t save that. In cloning, you can try to clone about the very bright spot just above the middle. Too much tweaking also increases the noise in the image which does not look good.
I gave it a try, but…[Read more] -
Erik Fransman replied to the topic Speed/Quality for wildlife photography in choosing SD Cards in the forum General Photo Chit Chat 1y, 9mo ago
I agree with Patrick. Sandisk Extreme Pro 170MB/s is great. And so cheap. 64GB less than a roll of film incl developing (well, almost). This card is also rated V30. That is important if you want to shoot 4K with minimal compression. (For 4K Video I would recommend 128 GB cards)
Unless you want to shoot uncompressed RAW video, you need V60 or V90…[Read more] -

Robert, again thank you. Very clarifying. The media is difficult to believe. It always was but getting worse. If they write something about a subject that you really know a lot about, there are ALWAYS quite a few things that are not correct in that reporting. So why would that be different on subjects that you do not know enough about to…[Read more]

Thank you Robert. @robert-apple , Good suggestion. However, I do not have the time at the moment to do what you suggest.
Just one quick question: Do you mean, that when I check it out on the state’s websites I will find out that these states have NOT made it more difficult to vote? ( and that this is all reported wrongly by the media)

Hi All, As some of you may have noticed, I am not very often at LS. That will at least last till the end of May when my film should be finished and broadcasted.
So being so little at the LS I am a bit hesitant to write what I am about to write especially since this is not a political forum.
Putin is a War criminal. Let there be no mistake about…[Read more] -

Have no time for LS since I am trying to finish my film. Many logistical problems (like I have to shoot in Sobibor, which is 1 mile located from the Ukrainian border and because of the tension between Russia and the west, a 7-mile zone along the Polish/Bellarus/Ukranian border is militarized and closed off. ) I still need to go there because it…[Read more]

Marty, that Title change doesn’t help.
LS. I would play with the image. Make sure the guy is the hero by making his surroundings a little darker. Also, cut back on the vibrance of the orange cooler behind him.

Marty, getting the Histogram right is a very good start of your post processing.
My “problem” with your image is that it is called “Screening for Diamonds”, but without the title, I have no idea what he is doing. There is no indication in the image itself.
But since you show this image, I would work with the light. Make the man and the box the…[Read more]
