Mmmmm. I can see what you were trying to do, @fcalesso, but I don’t think this quite works as it stands. The lights on the ground are interesting, but not strong enough to compete with our innate interest in ourselves, and my eye really goes pretty much straight past the lights to the people on the platform.
Also I don’t think the fences and…[Read more]

@fcalesso Loads of potential in a scene like this! Part of the difficulty is in getting the bikes to separate well enough, to stop them looking like a heap of metal tubes. No amount of differential focus is going to work, they are all much too close!
I think your answer lines in the bike against the wall. You might get away with cropping this, at…[Read more] -

Believe me, you’re not the only one who has been plagued with this question at least one time in their lives. As said before, people will answer your question “Is my photo good enough??” from many different perspectives. It is my opinion that you master your camera, understand light, how to “see” light, how to manipulate light, basic…[Read more]

How is this @fcalesso and @caimi ? I used the original picture and lightened the foreground some to show detail. Do I need to go lighter or is that about right?Check It Out

Hopefully I was able to help a little and not mess anything up. What I did was clone the sky to get the black corner out, also I used the blue sky filter in PSE 12 to give the sky some color. I also decreased the contrast and the highlights so the sky won’t be so overpowering and you can see the detail and…[Read more]

Agree with @fcalesso – just because you can capture all the detail you have (it looks like a long-ish exposure, but you don’t give details, making critique difficult!) it doesn’t mean that you have to turn everything into a daylight shot!
Try pulling the whole exposure back a bit to give it an evening ‘feel’, and also deal with the bright marks…[Read more]

I learned a long time ago that their is always some truth in criticism, @fcalesso. Most of it (depending on the source) can be BS, and that’s the part you toss in the trash, but that remaining bit of truth is valuable. Think on it, and use it as a catalyst for growth. Check It Out

@fcalesso You could try using a polarising filter perhaps, maybe in combination with a graduated filter especially if you are aiming for a silhouetted tree? Also a step to the right or crop a little from the left of the image so you don’t have the triangle of light branches in the top left cornerCheck It Out

@fcalesso it is truly difficult but, of course, not impossible. You believe your photos are “good enough”. Good enough for what? Do you envision making a living from it? If so, much of your success will be just how consistently good your photos are. The best tool I have found, aside from the ST which is an invaluable tool, is looking at…[Read more]

@fcalesso This is the exact issue I have been losing sleep over for quite some time. (Especially as it applies to newbies who really have no frame of reference.
So I would love to hear from these folks on how they would answer your question: @ed-aldridge, @nikon-nut, @redman, @drus, @caimiCheck It Out

I agree with @fcalesso. At first I thought the image needed to be straightened, It measures out fine.
Perhaps a slight crop on the right side would center the lines and fix the problem. I measured 3/8 in difference from right to left on the image presented here. The terrain on the right is higher than the road and the left side falls off. That…[Read more] -
