Allows Edits? YesHi @nikon-nut
Thanks, I’m very happy you like it.
I was lucky with the crisp focus and sharpness as this photo was handheld.
Another thing that was quite a succes, was I managed to isolate the gas station from the city lights, traffic lights, traffic, buildings and the other disturbings items very nearbyFelix SanchezParticipant- Allows Edits: Yes

Allows Edits? YesHi @tobiepsg.
Sure thing, here’s the picture for you in a color version.
I prefer the calm and peace of the monochrome version, but I guess it’s a matter of taste π

Allows Edits? Yes@lburgess – I’ve only tried shooting low key in portraits, but I do as others describe in this thread: Light from the side. Typically natural light from a window in a dark room like this one:

Allows Edits? YesOK, sorry about that
And I still agree. It’s a really interesting composition.
I like the sharp dead structure against the blurred human.π

Allows Edits? YesIt is a interesting composition, I really like it.
My first suggestion for slight improvement would be tilting the picture just a little bit to the left πFelix SanchezParticipant- Allows Edits: Yes

I feel the same way, many of my pictures I seldomly share as they are not A+ material, but they are still of enormous value to me.
I like your picture and your story, and together they really make me smile and look forward to grandchildren of my own π thanks for sharing
@albirder @tersha
I find it interesting that both of you mention the boombap picture as it’s the one I’m least proud of. But anyway, this picture comes with a story:The company I work for is called BON’A PARTE, and is nicknamed BAP. It’s a company creating clothes for women and honestly, it has really had a row of tough years and we’ve decreased from 400 to 55 employees over the last 3 years.
So, what’s funny? Yeah, we’ve really hadn’t a “BOOM” or “WAUW” of “KAPOW” experiences on sales for a very long time, and suddenly in Riga I see this combination of grafitti saying “BOOMBAP” and this cool looking girl next to it wearing a jacket from …. BON’A PARTE πTadaaaa.
Who knows, maybe it’s the winds of change?
Anyway, that’s the story.
Hope I’ve explained myselv properly on a foreign language to entertain you with this story πFelix SanchezParticipant- Allows Edits: Yes

Allows Edits? YesI like the colours very much too.
If you got more photos from that boring, rainy day, you should add the same editing to the rest and do a collage πFelix SanchezParticipant- Allows Edits: Yes

Allows Edits? YesThis is a very strange find indeed.
But hey, I’m on holiday and the Gulf of Riga is just 10 minutes away.
I’m on my way πFelix SanchezParticipant- Allows Edits: Yes

Allows Edits? YesGreat shots.
It’s crazy seeing this vessel in such modern surroundings, just look at all the skyscrapers in the background πJune 8, 2015 at 9:11 am in reply to: A cigarette, a stage, a lake, a close-up, a girl and a bridge #196021Felix SanchezParticipant- Allows Edits: Yes

Allows Edits? YesThanks for all your comments. I’ll post once in a while if I shoot anything interesting.
So far a music festival and a summer holiday in Riga will be the next destinations. Naturally I hope that I’ll find many moments of attractive scenery to photograph πHave a nice summer, all

Allows Edits? YesYou know what @tersha .. I was very lucky with that picture.
He wanted me to do a portrait, and I agreed but insisted on him to blow out smoke.
So he lit his cigarette and I quickly got this.
As it was quite dark I really didn’t get any nice pictures of him blowing smoke, but when I got home I realised this photo was a winner instead πFelix SanchezParticipant- Allows Edits: Yes

Allows Edits? Yes@falx – me too, no weddings, I’m not at all sure enough about what I do to guarantee a quality product to the couple. Also, I like to shoot for the fun of it and try hard to keep it as a hobby and not make it a job
I’m happy you like the Morten A picture

Allows Edits? YesBy the way, forgot to write.
All portraits are with natural light except the 3. portrait. That portrait is with natural light coming from a big window on her right and artificial light soming from above π

Allows Edits? YesThanks @tobiepsg
I’d like to take some very basic photo courses myself, so I have to look into this.
I’ve just picked up a camera and started shooting like so many others, and shooting with a Fuji X100S I think I can really do better pictures with a better understanding of all the options that camera gives me πFelix SanchezParticipant- Allows Edits: Yes

Allows Edits? Yes@tobiepsg – sounds like a very good plan. If it can add to your amount available each month and you can keep it as a once per month job, It’d perfect. I’m curious, where did you subscribe for your wedding photography diploma?

Allows Edits? Yes@arthurr4 – I’m like you I guess, mostly just going with the gut feeling, from time to time actually having a plan about what to shoot, but … yes, most often just kinda desperately trying to capture something amazing π
@tobiepsg – Nice set of pics. Really. Not only the birds / wildlife / landscape ones, but all of them look good.Felix SanchezParticipant- Allows Edits: Yes

Allows Edits? Yes@arthurr4 – thanks. It’s a pretty empty place this, so they’re not in any way disturbing but actually an important part of the photo.
@tersha – thanks. It came out much better than I expected. Actually I’ve wanted to do a long exposure of this barn for a long time now, but when I finally got a grip and went shooting, the small ponds surrounding the abandoned barn were frozen and I had to go for another approach. Anyway, maybe this turned out much better πHave a perfect sunday, both of you
