Composition is good and I like the subject.
The sky highlights are completely blown though and encroach slightly into the petals.
I agree with @tobiepsg and @valeryp, focus is off throughout. I wonder if you may have been too close to subject for your macro lens, or if you were using manual focus and didn’t get it quite right (which is very…[Read more]

Also @nikon-nut make sure you’re running 64bit windows and 64bit photoshop before you install any more RAM. If you have 32 bit for either one of them you will be hard-limited to 4Gb no matter how much you install. In fact that may be a problem even now, as 32 bit systems often only use 2.5 to 3.5 Gb of RAM on a 4Gb system (depending on the…[Read more]

I like the shot and love baby’s facial expression and definitely getting down and shooting from the kid’s viewpoint is a great way to gain a new perspective in your images. But the background here doesn’t do your shot any favours, it is a little too bright and distracting and there’s a strange black object behind baby’s left ear.
Focus on…[Read more]

The sky and colours are great. Exposure needs to increase by at least 1 stop, maybe 2.
I would suggest bracketing 3 shots as a minimum with -2, 0 +2 EV. That way you’re giving your software much more information about the ambient light so it knows roughly how it should expose your shot.Check It Out

Sorry Tobie, I’m going to have to agree with @nikon-nut here. If the closest dog had been in focus this would have been a spectacular shot, hell perhaps even WPY spectacular! But the lack of focus has really weakened it.Check It Out

Funny little guy! I agree with cropping in a bit, but good job on getting the shot. Do you reckon he’d come to the window with it open? Or is that too much of a risk for him to come in?Check It Out

I like both images.
The “girls on street” shot could use more contrast and vibrancy/saturation to bring out the pink fence and clothes on the line.
The “old lady” shot looks like a forward facing flash was used and has caused shadowing behind and shiny highlights on the face. Try bouncing the flash next time or using a diffuser. I think I…[Read more]

Cute kid, but there’s a few problems here.
Face is underexposed, but especially so on baby’s left. I’m guessing you cropped this down from a larger image, possibly with a window or other bright area behind baby’s head and the camera has exposed for this bright area.
Focus is soft. The eyes should be pin sharp at this range but the focus…[Read more]

First time I looked at this I thought WTF is wrong with that rabbit’s eyes! Then I realised it was a statue, at least I hope it is because otherwise I’m guessing this was taken near Chernobyl? đŸ˜‰
Focus is slightly off I think. The foreground plant over the rabbit’s chest looks like the focus point, though without seeing a larger picture it is…[Read more]

I like the composition of the shot, and the sense of motion, water and fun. The dog is rather underexposed though and could do with some shadow recovery.
Action shots in the dark are always going to be tricky unless you use a very fast lens. I think the job you’ve done here is pretty good considering what you were up against, but I would have…[Read more]

Many cameras also have an electronic spirit level. Check your manual to see if you have one.
Lightroom, DXO, and many other post-processing software have horizon fixing tools within them.Check It Out

Agree with both sets of comments above, and most of the problems discussed are caused by the sun.
Sunlight shining through tree leaves can be a photographer’s worst nightmare, wrecking exposure, causing flare, intruding on subjects and generally messing you around. The arch is underexposed because the camera has exposed for the sky. Blown…[Read more]

I agree, additional lighting from underneath would have improved this greatly. Also composition-wise, I think the navel is a little too central. I would have aimed to get slightly more torso in and put the navel on the bottom third line.
I like the idea of the heart-shaped hands over the baby though and focus and processing are both good.Check It Out

Photo and HD version updated with new crop. How does that look @shaneh and @valeryp?
The light is a little harsh I think @valeryp and there is a small patch on her forehead that really challenges the top end of the histogram, but doesn’t quite reach there. It was a bright and sunny day. With hindsight I probably should have tried seeing how it…[Read more]

I think the crop has improved the shot. You can now alter the horizon safely and make the cues vertical if you wanted..
It’s highlighted her complexion and the slightly soft focus on her eyes at this close range though, and you’re correct the left arm does look a bit bright.
Having said all that, I think it looks good.Check It Out
