I think there is something appealing about it too. But I am a fan of soft focus and have seen great examples of it used selectively throughout an image or overall as here. If this had been tack sharp I am not certain it would be half as interesting. On the other hand, I think @fraser is on to something too with his suggestion of sharp focus on…[Read more]

lol @fraser‘s satan rabbits of chernobyl
This was gonna be a tough shot anyway – the snow + the dark branches – exposure nightmare. I think you have done a pretty decent job of that.
Did you add that vignetting?Check It Out

@pmarione your right Shouldn’t cut the feet off a block of ice any more than a person.
@fraser the Carnival celebration starts here soon and there will be blocks ice all over the place so I will try even rearranging the ice next time. Normally the only way I like to rearrange…[Read more]

Not sure how much of this image was intentional but I like it. It looks like a picture taken by someone visiting an auto show with no art or photographic training. In other words, I agree with the points brought up by @fraser but disagree with his conclusions. Not every snapshot is bad. What is the subject ? It may be that the subject is a new…[Read more]

@fraser his work is great. He has a Facebook forum that’s really good. He’s a really cool guy. I actually got out of photography back in the 90’and went to video. A while back I decided to switch to DSLR for video and he was extremely helpful in helping guide me to the right DSLR for me and my budget. I’ve had Minolta and Canon SLR, but this…[Read more]

Patrick (@pmarione) you can be a bit “caustic” as times. I do as well. @fraser please understand it is never personal. I know at times it may seem so but it is not. @fraser I do not remember what was said on my first pic but I can tell you I went back with my tail between my legs so to speak.Check It Out

I don’t know what was your idea here but you have done the perfect photo of “what not to do” !
I have a brewer as customer and if I showed her that pic I most probably would have to find a new customer.
The geometry is completely wrong not only the bottle as said by @fraser but the glass too.
Maybe you can try to sale the background to Mattel…[Read more] -

A great shot @bugadrienne. I agree with @fraser about the tilt giving a feeling of motion, but I would have tried to get more of a bokeh effect of the trees / bushes in the background, otherwise a cracking photo.Check It Out

I got the #s wrong on post #119980 and have edited it. How crunchy I feel now to have got the lenses so mixed up! That is what I get for not even trying that Tamron yet. It is going on the camera today. Lol!

When I put my thoughts about the composition I didn’t mean to play with croping.
This is more about the concept: in symmetrical objects important to have something VERY strong in the middle of symmetry: the eyes should be caught in the middle and then go asides IMHO.
BTW @fraser check the horizon-it seems tilted a little.
And about the…[Read more] -
