Thank you so much Mikki, sounds like you have some experience in this venue also.
Cheers,
Frank@foluke, Anytime 🙂
@Iburgess, Good advice!
@Iburgess, Thanks for the complement, I appreciate it immensely. The framing of the shot came to me in his dream. 😉
Cheers,
Frank@foluke, Well, mounting a photograph is a way to preserve it and give it better handling characteristics. Basically you are putting a backing on the thing. This is tantamount to preserving it as a photograph tends to buckle under it’s own weight over time. (not desirable). They have various mounting techniques, wet or dry, corner adhesion etc. for different applications.
Don’t forget matting. A mat goes on the front of a photograph, and like a window can add visual appeal and dimension to a photo, Matting comes in a wide range of colours and sizes. You can do your own matting with your choice of available mediums. It can also help hold the photograph to the mount you have affixed the photograph to.
Framing is basically putting some medium (aluminium, wood, plastic) around the parameter of the finished photograph and putting glass over the the mat and frame for decorative or aesthetic purposes, and protection. Of course it also allows you various ways to hang it on a wall. Framing can also be used to do a wrap of the photograph over the frame where the frame doesn’t show. It’s just a skeleton for the photograph to be stretched over, no glass or mat used at all. I use this sometimes with a canvas print that doesn’t necessarily need an exterior frame to look good hanging on the wall.
If you mount your photograph to a sturdy enough backing, you could actually put a mat over it (using good adhesive), and hang it like that. No frame needed, but preservation of the document decreases.Hope that helps… (There is a lot more to this than this simplistic explanation so I would check it out with wiki-how if you want to get the scoop in a nutshell.
Cheers,
Frank@Tobie, Yeah, he holds the floor down pretty good. 😉
Thanks for looking Arthur. I think I am better at headlining a photograph than I am at taking them… 🙂
@ capirani, Well here is one for you that started out as a really bad moon shot through the weeds. Maybe it is worthy of mention when trying to make art out of nothing..

@Chrissie, Yes that is what I see also. What is weird is that not everyone sees the face, but I can’t tell you why. Maybe it has to do with having a good imagination, and a modicum of intelligent creativity. Our minds tend to search for patterns in things, so sometimes we see patterns that aren’t really there. I was just curious if that was happening to me in this one. Thanks for clearing that up! 🙂
Cheers, Frank
@Chrissie, Did you? How cool that you could see it also. I thought I was going off my rocker a bit LOL. Tobie says he sees a couple of them, but I only see one. Well, it was a momentary reality that passed into oblivion within seconds. I was lucky to capture it at all.
The story of a life in under a second. Very well done!
Oh, man, and I was so rooting for him. 🙂
I hate it when the guys in the middle start hugging like that, it’s a little embarrassing for the fans. LOL
13th place is only the 12th looser, so he isn’t doing that bad, at least he is still on the track.
@Tersha, These are so cool, hopefully the contents of the glass were just as enjoyable! 😉
Cheers,
FrankThe pastel colours in this shot are divine @Chrissie Bee, fantastic rendition of a beautiful coast line! Love San Diego and the surrounding areas. (I did some hang gliding years ago from the cliffs at Torrey Pines.) ( Back then I was enamoured by the scenic views at blacks beach also heh heh heh).
@Dru Stephen Stone, I’ll take that, perhaps there is hope for me yet. 🙂
Thank you very much for your approving comment Tersha.
Well John, now I am a little jealous. I live in the flat lands and have to drive for MILES just to see an elevation change, so this is a treat in itself. I always admired the blue hue of the mountains back east, miss that so much. Beautiful and peaceful surroundings has to be so relaxing to look at on a daily basis. You are a lucky man!
Frank
Thanks John, for the info. Looks like I am in the market for a longer lens now.. 🙂
