I’m not happy with the tree coming out the top of her head either I may try and get rid of it one of these days. I reduced the contrast and clarity which has helped, I also reduced the overall exposure which I had pushed up in post. I’ve been fortunate with deer in better weather as I take my lunch, chair and tripod out in the a wooded area…[Read more]

We have four does with last years fawns which hang out in our front yard. They are extremely difficult photograph, I hid behind our fence with my camera on a post and my head squarely behind the camera so they could only see the camera and my dark hat. I should have had it in live mode to stop the mirror noise and they might have relaxed more.…[Read more]

Canon 5DIII, ISO 2000, SS 1/500, f5.6 near dark. Four does with last years fawns hang out near our front yard they are very difficult to photograph. This day I was hiding (and freezing) behind our fence with the camera resting on a post and my head squarely behind it so the doe couldn't make out a human form and could only hear my camera.

I have a few pictures like this were DOF on the background limbs disrupt the picture. It’s not clear if you’re focused on the limb right in front of the owl or on the owl. At 1/160 were you on a tripod? I don’t like being below 1/400 – 1/320 without being on a monopod or tripod. With that camera you could have pushed your ISO up to 1250 and…[Read more]

I like lonely tree pictures and B&W often makes them better. The tree limbs on the left and bush on the right distract from the total composition. Ideally the branches on the left and the bush on the right wouldn’t be there providing a balance picture of a lonely tree. Without the bush you would have negative space to balance out the closeness…[Read more]

Thanks for the comment, that’s where I would have liked to have been accept I couldn’t get there and if I had I would’ve been sitting way to close to the alligators resting spot (he went to the same spot everyday). The Egret was standing there fishing when I spotted the alligator coming out of the mangroves behind the Egret, I have a series of…[Read more]

The color version is the best for expressing the vibrancy of a beautiful flower while the B&W seems flat. I tried flowers and could never get excited by it.Check It Out

I would liked to have seen this picture without the lamp post it seems to clutter an otherwise quiet scene. I like the sepia filter it seems to work for me in this photo. Normally I like B&W and good color. Check It Out

I’ve been playing with this photo a lot I’ve cropped it closer creating a better view of its intense stare.
I’m interested in ideas on how it might be improved to grab and hold the viewers attention. Check It Out

I agree that it is most likely a Royal Tern, it takes time to learn to identify various birds, I’m always working on it and take my bird books whenever I travel. By knowing your birds you will become familiar with their behavior and learn to anticipate a great shot. Check It Out

Views from the back don’t usually work very well even though his bill is open. Seagulls are always making noise a few more minutes and you might have gotten a more profile or frontal shot with his bill open. It could be a little sharper.Check It Out
