Thank you for your suggestions:
@jedetraz I tried your suggestion, but prefer to leave the flanking vegetation in. Cropping sufficient to remove them also removed the sense of openness of the lake and far shoreline. Maybe retaking the photo with wider angle lens setting might work.

I don’t think this is a Seagull (flying rat). It’s a Tern. I’m not sure where this image was made and there is not enough detail in the image for identification so I can’t say if it’s an Elegant Tern or a Royal Tern. I can say with some certainty that it’s not a Gull. Same family though (Laridae)
