@klomeli your white balance could be causing your problem as @joyce0114 points out. If you are going to do macro shots you need to work on keeping more of your subject in focus. Some shots will look better when focus drops off as you look beyond the initial viewpoint others will not. Here I think that a sharp focus is called for. You do not…[Read more]

The problem with getting DOF in lower light with smaller apertures is definitely the slower film speeds. That requires a good tripod or beanbag(easy to make). Try to keep ISO low if you can with macro shots of still objects.
Also, there are tutorials for making reflectors and diffusers if you have a flash that needs a diffuser. I…[Read more]

@tobiepsg +1
@klomeli
Yup, this one is very pretty and has a focal point. Just in case you didn’t already know, If you want more DOF, Higher Fstop #s=smaller apertures=more in focus. (I read that you said that the lens has a small focal point or DOF) This happens to me when I use closeup doipters(filters). I wish I could afford a macro lens at…[Read more] -

I enjoyed your comments @klomeli. Not every shot we take and enjoy is a “wally” and I tend to forget that. I find that when I off load my camera I am looking, not for images that I enjoy but for ones that are “wallies”. I forget that in some instances the very reason I got my camera out was because I just like the look of the scene and not that…[Read more]

@klomeli you’re right – the comment added during the pic upload has nothing to do with the comments in the thread itself. It’s better to just copy it after typing it for the upload and then to paste it in the thread itself because not everyone knows what you’ve captured during the upload (and few of us will go to the album every time to see what…[Read more]

@klomeli, nice shot. What would make this shot better is if the entire bee was in focus. It is not easy to do. I have many shots like this and I still cannot figure out how to do it, but I have seen it done. Perhaps someone will give us some hints. Check It Out

@tobiepsg, I asked for settings, (usually a bit more info, too), because that’s what i do, as a Moderator. If the person putting the shot into the Shark tank doesn’t put a bit of info, camera settings, then I ask for it , as it’s helpful for learners, and sometimes for seeing what could have been done better.
As far as the settings show for @klom…[Read more] -
