@tomdinning Thanks for the advice, I’ll keep that in mind and add it to the “things to check before purchase” list. As for taking the camera to the loo…. well I can’t say I haven’t done that, just not recently.
Your rescue will have to wait for another I’m afraid. My only options carwise are a Landrover Discovery or an old Holden Astra, neither of which fit the criteria of “fast” and one of which is not all that reliable.

Hi All,
I’m Lisa and I’m a photoholic.
I live in (mostly) sunny Perth, Western Australia and started to seriously learn to use my dSLR at the beginning of the year (2010). I started off really well, getting into the photo a day thing an all, but have been very slack for the last 3 months, barely picking up the camera. I’m trying to change that and get back into things.
Currently I shoot with a Nikon D40X but would love to upgrade the body to a D700 if I can every get the cash together.
I’m looking forward to interacting with and learning from everyone here. Please be nice to this beginner đŸ™‚

Some truly spectacular shots here already. @sunseeker I love the reflections on the dam.

I took this one a while ago, but it’s one of my faves.

I am partial to matte. I love the texture of it. I have to agree with others though that it does depend on the photo.
