Agreed, out of focus, but I suppose if I went a much shorter exposure it might have been different. Although it was also at night. I was also in the stands, not at trackside. Because of this shoot, I knew I had to get a longer lens.
Mind if I ask you how you set your focal points and I assume you used AF?Check It Out

Not my car! Couldn’t get too many shots of individual vehicles because they were all crashing into each other, but caught this one alone at the start of it’s 2nd derby of the night. It’s a bigger object than a bike so I need to know how to achieve sharp focus on…[Read more]

Andre, your totally right.
I was only mentioning about the point of focus. I’m not sure I would want to have multiple points when trying to get a sharp focus on one specific object. I would want that object to be as sharp as possible while the rest of the frame is blurred.
I don’t have a lot of experience panning, but like the concept a lot,…[Read more] -

Thanks for the replies.
I do have other shots with just the eagle reaching for the fish in the water, but with this one I thought a reflection looked cool without being a mirror image.
An example without the created reflection.

Taken from across the Potomac River from Washington DC at sunrise.
Used TPE to get the exact date for this shot. There are only 2 days out of the year to be able to get it like this. The cloud cover cooperated better than I could have ever expected. -

I was wondering what you used to creat the background blur?
If it was DOF created by apreture than the guy in the blue shirt would be blurred more. That being said, I like the picture with the focus being on the man and his cat. It’s very pleasent to look at imo. Nice work.
The size of the cat’s paws make me think it will be something…[Read more] -

The lines on the left side are distracting and lead the eye away from the subject. The color red could be compleetly removed on the nose and eye to leave a clean white by masking those areas without effecting the shade of the fur. I might consider cloning out the light reflection on the right eye for a completely black pupil. It has good…[Read more]

Edited with ACDSee. Used a mirror image (reflection) below the eagle, but turned down the opacity of the effect to show the water texture seemlessly. There was a little adjustment of color and brightness, and some noise reduction I think. Last thing was to…[Read more] -

Hopefully this will help.
I love eagles and when photographing them in motion I’ll set one point in the auto-focus and use that on the eagle’s head when firing off a shot. Shooting a biker I would focus that one point on the biker’s face, and if possible the biker’s eye. Check It Out -

I like the second shot better too. The distant mountains are a bit more vibrant with more detail and some improvement on the sky.
I would consider highlighting the forground by cropping the pic to just below the top of the distant ridge.
I like the foreground rock a lot and would do nothing to it. Check It Out -

I like the croped shot better, but I think it’s because it seems sharper because it’s closer. The zig-zag light on the empire state building’s reflection is sweet. I use ACDSee and it allows a leveler, as in when you use the mirror tool it can be full strength, or less. Personally I’d like a bit more water texture in the water, but overall this…[Read more]

I’m new to this site too and like the concept.
I agreed with the others that it is well under exposed. At one second I’ll assume you used a tripod (hard to tell because of the darkness) than it would have helped to have a longer exposure on a tripod. It also looks like you pushed up the megenta / red color. Seems a bit un-natural, especially…[Read more] -
