f/22 – Shot on the run, had people waiting for me. Had been shooting the day before where I needed depth. Check It Out

Try cropping top down and bottom up.. Make a wide pano with less foreground and sky.. Just seek what that does. When I played around, really liked it!! Make sure to keep the warm grasses on the left..

Just for trying its sake, try cropping almost a third off the top. Make it a square shot. See how that works.Check It Out

I have one real issue with this shot… it’s not hanging in my office. Amazing reflections of color, the scene is wonderful.. and.. Wish I lived where I could shoot these!

Ok.. I agree this is an awesome shot. One thing I’ve always thought, and have read, is not to let your diagonal go off right at the corner of the image. The wonderful foreground does that. If you would crop top and right, see how that works. It seems to look better when I kinda play with it. I really like the foreground/background…[Read more]

I have to agree. Nice light, wonderful subject, but there is no distinct focal point. There’s not good motion, balance or subject placement. A crop that would take the flower in the center down to the left bottom third might make this really nice shot. I’ve used my double L’s card boards to simulate crops and that seems to work pretty…[Read more]

I like this shot. I really like the message you were working toward. Please ignore folks that “flame” that is not the purpose of this forum, nor is it appropriate. Things I would try… yes, sharpening would be good. I would also consider cropping top and bottom to make this look almost like a pano. It has that feel… and the image is about…[Read more]

Really fun shot! If I were editing it for me, I’d bring out (and soften) the dark shadows just a bit. The shadows are a bit over the top to me, especially in the eyes. NICE SHOT.. and fun looking kitten!

You can get photoshop and lightroom right now for 10 bucks a month for the first year. That is what pushed me over to go ahead and get it and WOW… way past the several other editors (PSP, Gimp etc) that I alternated between.
Then go to Youtube and watch Phlearn, bluelightning and other PS tutorials. I’ve learned an incredible amount…[Read more]

What was your lighting? I seem to have a feel that there are two light sources, but can’t figure out how they play?Check It Out

@caimi said it just so. I would also try to take the snow in the foreground going to back ground darken more incrementally (gradient) so the snow on the bench “read” better. The background snow could be less “white” (exposed..) A very nice shot!

It depends on how you are positioning this image. As a background image for stock, I think it would do very nicely! As a fine art shot, I doubt it would sell. I do like the interplays of color and light.Check It Out

I think you could take the color of each spool and overlay it on the highlights with a very low opacity or a gradient across the highlight with the thread color make those highlights not only less blown but carry the thread color. I think this image, with a tad bit of PS would be very good!

Just my opinion, but too many things of focal interest in the image. The eyes wanders and doesn’t have a single major point to settle on. Is, and only to me, a bit disconcerting as a shot more than a snap shot. You have some great elements, but need to highlight them individually…Check It Out

To me, I like the color above. The pipe itself is a bit too white as the light was on it a lot. The reflection has two edges which probably came from doing your light source on and off twice while light painting. I’ve done that too. Light painting is so much fun, and is an art to itself. John, have to agree… busy.. What if you take the sky and the cacti on the top third. That is really nicely exposed and the contrast is great. I personally love the B&W! Just too much in the lower foreground going on in my lousy opinion. The sky, if cropped as I kinda played with, would be better if it was softened so the cacti are the…[Read more]
