Very creative!  You can tell that’s not my hand… I would stolen about 12. 😆

I totally understand, it’s somewhat like the ‘autocorrect’ on phones.  Almost makes one want to throw it through it through the living room window.

And thank you for the kind words Patrick.

Thank you Robert.  I’ve had the pleasure of visiting Alaska, the Yukon and the former Northwest Territories.  I have never been able to adequately describe the feeling I experience while being there.   It is definitely beautiful.

This is the other image that started me to experiment with an altered background.

                  And the potential final shot.

I added some texture to the background.

And then tried it with a soft B&W

                      Welcome Heather!

You’ve no doubt had a quick look in the Shark Tank. You’ll find that you get honest critiques which may bring new ideas for you. As well, through out posting of the various images, members will provide some insightful thoughts for you.

As for “Much of my output and post-processing is done on the fly with no standardized methods or style. I know I should be more disciplined!”… It sounds like you either have a specific destination you want for the image you’re working on, or, you let the image speak to you and let the image decide where it will take you. Either way, ‘a disciplined’ style of processing is definitely not required (unless one is working on a couple of hundred images from the same photoshoot where the lighting and surroundings are controlled).

I’m looking forward to seeing your images. 🙂

Thank you, Rob.  ( @admin-2 ).  Quite often the view from this angle (taken from the east of Denali) is cloud covered due to the weather patterns.  I was really fortunate that this view opened up.

The image itself is a 3 image vertical pano.

Thank you, Rob.  This is in the Glacier Bay Basin, Alaska and is one of the regular stops on a cruise ship going up the ‘inner passage’ while transiting the west coast of Canada and Alaska.  There are several glaciers that make it down to the waters of the Basin and the ship will ‘park’ there for a while so the passengers can appreciate the beauty.

If you look really close, you can spot a smaller tour boat at the bottom of the glacier in the middle of the image.

I would be tempted to clone the girder and other structural components to hide the bright spot rather than clone the other security camera/smoke detector. There doesn’t seem to be anything on the girder that the detector attaches to.

As for the cropping, I would be tempted to go the ‘other way’ and crop off the LH side of the image… right to where that angled pole hides behind the girder.

Then I would be tempted to assimilate the straightening of the image. Make a ‘horizontal’ line of the of girder using the top portion as the horizontal. The result would ‘almost’ make a vertical of the RH edge of the big pole on the RH side.

In this version the RH column becomes the star of the show, but not so much that one’s eye does not quit roving through the image.

Another option is to ‘move the whole crop’ over to the LH edge (thus incorporating both poles). Moving the whole crop also makes the ‘v’ structures above the girder visible providing a bit of balance. This keeps in line with Beth’s thinking and makes the inner portion between the poles the star of the image. It also has less tension in the image.

Depending on one’s view point, the Wall has been a contentious issue for a while now.
