I was waking on the streets in Lima last February and just stumbled in this beautiful car. This one deserves all the attention that it deserves.

Oh yeah! I usually don’t loose sleep. The photography part is, when you decided what you to photograph and which filters to use et cetera, is fully automated. This goes even for the calibration images. Now I’m still working on the automation of the flats but the for the darks and bias images I’ve setup a library which I have to maintain regularly.…[Read more]

A bit cheesy but I like the âunderexposedâ Sun. I was on my way walking to work (itâs about a 3 miles walk from home to work). -

I got the alert when it was morning for us. I hoped it would last until the following evening but unfortunately I couldnât see anything. At last yearsâ event in August it âruinedâ one of my Astro sessions. I was busy shooting m81/m82 but the sky turned really pink âspoilingâ my whole session. This was one of my individual subs:

Oh wow! Thatâs awesome!! Yeah, thatâs also on my bucket list. I remember quite clearly me as a little boy when the Apollo launches were going on that I desperately wanted to watch a launch myself out in the field. Of course that would involve an ocean crossing trip and my parents only being from humble origins never were able to finance that. Awe…[Read more]

I still haven’t done that, or better, I did experiment a bit and gotten a few shots but nothing to my real satisfaction. I did invest in a couple of s0lar filters though so it’s definitely on my list. I was originally planning on going to the US to see and photograph the ’24 solar eclipse. Things turned out differently so now I’m planning on doing…[Read more]

Hi Robert! Oh wow. Thatâd be my dream. Really dark skies. Over here I image from downtown The Hague. Skies have darkened a bit last few years but itâs still Bortle 7. Once every couple of months I go out to somewhat darker skies. If I can convince my wife to do such a trip that is. I keep being amazed how many stars you actually can see with you…[Read more]

Hi Dahlia,
Ah yeah. I can imagine that being quite hard. Manually tracking is quite exhaustive and you have to keep the individual sub exposures really short. And then line them up again and stack them to get a decent picture. One the first trackers I bought was the Nomad MSM tracker. I still have that one and use that for Milky Way photography…[Read more]

Thanks Patrick! It’s quite a rabbit hole indeed and I’m still learning. The fun thing with this is though that one can start with a simple DSLR. I started out with just my Nikon D78, a 210mm Tamron lens and a simple tracker. The telescopes I use today are only a have a slightly larger focal width (the ZWO FF80 is a 600mm, F/7.5 telescope, but the…[Read more]
