Robin Priestley replied to the topic Looking For A Good Macro Lens in the forum General Photo Chit Chat 10y ago
Let’s assume you’re not a lottery winner. The lens you want (and yes I am willing to fight about it) is the Nikkor 200mm EDIF F4 manual focusing lens. Get this or the medical version (built in ring light) and you are done!
The used lens (extra low dispersion, internal focusing) is a fantastic buy and has stunning performance. The big…[Read more]

I still have my Nikkormat FTN that I bought when I was sixteen. It was a big step up from my Dad’s Argus C3 rangefinder. If you bring a truck we can fill it with all the stuff I’ve used since those days đŸ™‚ For a Nikon fan living in Japan for a couple of years came in pretty handy.
Now I try to standardize on a couple of simple rangefinders…[Read more]

@tobiepsg is right. You want this in Shark Tank. Solid portrait. I would have brightend the eyes and dodged the hinge perhaps. If this is your typical work, you need to give us pointers đŸ™‚Check It Out

Robin Priestley replied to the topic What is one piece of advice you would give to a beginner in photography? in the forum General Photo Chit Chat 10y ago
Understand the physics of light. There is nothing more important than the light. Understand the real simple basics: Depth of field (emphasis), Shutter speed (motion), rule of thirds…
Then, shoot everything you see; thoughtfully. Consider the little things in the composition. Think about the image you want to capture.
Now if I can…[Read more]

I own one of the new Nikkor 400mm f2.8 and at 14′ it is an exceptional portrait lens! Of course you can also use it for Bear and other animals that will eat you. Like M-L, I keep promising to sell it, however, it is an incredible piece of glass.
Now for the swans: ISO 200 properly exposed should have undetectable noise. The Nikon sensor…[Read more]

You know it’s a solid shot. I assume you didn’t want a more positive delineation of the sky. A deep red filter would have provided that. Perhaps it’s my monitor. I think I’m looking at the hillside dropping off to the left.Check It Out

Which scanner are you using? Or do you have a vendor do it? I need to make a decision and I’m leaning towards buying a dedicated scanner.Check It Out

RedMan,
Sorry for the delay in responding to your email. Ex swab jockey so the driver side rear wheel is port side aft. Port quarter to be exact. Separation was just my thought based on the fact that everything is SOooooo sharp.
Which is wonderful. I was imagining the photograph with a shorter depth of field. It would take a ST lens, and…[Read more] -
