Hi, @robbbin, would you please refer to Shark Tank Etiquette, and tell us a little about how/why you took this shot, camera settings, etc. thanks. (Moderator)Check It Out

Thanks @robbbin It’s early in the morning here, so I may be missing it, but there is no sky or defined hillside 🙂
SEP2 lets me “cheat” and add a red filter in post if I need to. It actually mimics the effect of a “real” read filter pretty well and I can adjust it’s intensity on the fly. That said, I don’t think I used one here. Check It Out

@robbbin I have an Epson Expression 10000XL but if I were to buy another I would give the Epson perfection V700 a look. Film is a work in progress for me so I’m no expert however, I did a workshop (4×5) in Death Valley with Michael Gordon in December. He has the V700 but he also drum scans when he prints his images large. Large would be 48″ and…[Read more]

@robbbin, thanks for your critique. I’m curious to know what “required separation” is? and when it is?
Also, what is a port aft corner? are you refering to the bottom right hand corner?@nikon-nut, Cheers mate, (RHD-Australia) 1928-29 Chysler Touring (http://www.svvs.org/genpics11/1927_Chrysler_Series_62_Touring.jpg) it’s one of about a dozen…[Read more]

@robbbin it is difficult for us here to see how you could have composed it differently because we cannot see what is not in the frame. I agree with @falx that a different composition might have given this pic more impact. Your b&w conversion is not bad. You have good contrast in the midtones.Check It Out

Hi @robbbin I liked it before, I now like it more but its always your shot, I like the crop, but you decide what’s to be what 🙂 Nice one fella, moved me to a little street poetry 😉Check It Out

MUCH better! Now the icicles have definition and separation from the colors of the sky. I realize that this is difficult because the icicles are passing the light of the sky. I really like the adjustments made by @robbbin.Check It Out

I must agree with @tobiepsg that the original sky might be better with the lighter snow. I like the lighter snow @robbbin but you might want to dial back the sky. Sorry half bad advise. But @robbbin as I always say we must keep experimenting.Check It Out

@robbbin it might be parallax I am not really sure. As you can see it has to do with the angle that the farther shots have. My small Sigma doesn’t seem to have as much of a problem as my nifty fifty but I am not sure I have done 8 panels with the Sigma.
I use PS to sew these together. I have tried Auto Stitch but it uses jpegs and I lose to…[Read more]

@robbbin you should try to straighten the silo and I would work on the snow to try to get it a little whiter without loosing the shadows in the contours that give it depth and dimension. I would also work on the sky to get a little more dramatic effect. I do like this shot and you composition.
And I would clone out that stupid sign.Check It Out

@robbbin perhaps I was a bit unclear (sorry, that happens!).
When I mentioned “Why did you use a vertical shot? I think a wider (horisontal) shot of this would have been beautiful!” I did not ask for a horisontal crop of the same photo – I was referring to your choice of going vertical on the day you took the pic. In general landscapes look…[Read more]
