Bye.
I am not editing your photographs and republishing them on this or any other forum, per se. Just seeing the hidden details AND I will not do it again as far as your images are concerned.
I believe most people would agree with you @nikon-nut that their photographs are very personal. I too sell my photographs.
I teach photography to those who are interested and enthusiastic enough and hope they get as much pleasure from the experience as I do.
Having said that, @ed-aldridge, whatever I do with other peoples images in the privacy of my home and on my computer for my simple interest is entirely up to me and I take exception to people telling me what I should or should not do.
I welcome any observations or positive criticism of my work as I am always trying to improve.
I didn’t download it. I basically selected and copied it from the screen and pasted into Photoshop. There was enough detail to adjust the image. I did it because I like to see what details are lost in shadows, mainly in my own images, but sometimes in other peoples.
Lovely B&W work. Love them all. The only criticism, if it can be counted as such, is the first image. Could you squeeze some more details in the dark shadow to the right – it would balance the details on the left of the pedestal.
The details are there as I copied this image into PS and found them using Viveza 2 filter from the Nik collection of filters. Leaves and twigs are visible.
Hi Tobie,
Thanks for the feedback. I was just recce’ing the shot with the intention of going back early morning. So, next one will have all the correct settings and I’ll be using my tripod. In this shot I used some PS filters, experimenting a bit with Topaz Clarity, so all feedback is great as it helps me with that aspect too. Thanks again.
@tobiepsg – you can see a large version on my website
in the Large Gallery – there is only the one photo.
I agree with everything that’s been said – lovely image.
Is it possible to show the photograph and the histogram?
Thanks everyone for your input – much appreciated.
Thanks John (@nikon-nut),
It has a B&W layer, courtesy Nik Silver Efex Pro filter and some brightness/contrast adjustments using Viveza 2 filter PLUS some opacity changes. The idea was to get a low-key colour effect.
I agree that the large rock is a bit intrusive.
Thanks, Aaron – will give a try.
He had just stepped out of his boat, so no rod or net available.
I very much like the concept and the background is very interestingly done, but, I feel a tension in the image as if the hands are suppressing something hidden. As such it makes me feel a bit uneasy.
I think the title “Dreamy” says it all – the photograph wasn’t intended to be sharp and the flowers not to be contrasty – just dreamy, slightly out of focus etc.
Thanks, @sherryg, I will be playing around with the image to “get” some of what you’ve said. I did think of including the man to achieve what you suggest, so, I’ll address that.
I kind of like the uneasiness the photograph has. To me it brought to mind some of the more sinister aspects of Venice and its alleys!
Sorry, I didn’t know you meant sharpness as opposed to contrast.
It has the extremes of contrast from total black to total white. Where would you ( @diogo405 ) suggest the contrast is needed – in the flower itself?
