First attempt at panning a couple of weeks ago. Hell of a job, but liked it in a curious way…
Thank you all for the constructive comments.
@nikon-nut: the reason for the -0.7 correction was an – apparently failing- attempt to avoid blown out skies (as @claudia-betia assumed correctly).
@claudia-betia: thanks for the advice, helpful suggestions for a newbie in the field of photography.
@aarongeis: well, guess i’m not sure if this black blocking was my intention, but I guessed it looked like the right thing to do at the time. Guess it won’t do any harm if I try the nice step by step you provided to alter things and see what happens.
I’ll post the result when done!Nice thought behind the shot. But like @aarongeis, I also feel too much distracted from the ‘lonely’ dandelion. Not sure what it is, but maybe the horizon in the far back that makes a (tilted) cut, disturbing uniformity as needed to make the dandelion stand out? Maybe doing some post in LR or PS can do the trick (some contrast tweaking or so?), but maybe that’s merely a matter of taste.
I’m far from a pro, but I hope these humble newbie remarks can be of some use to you.I agree with @driverv’s remark. I personally think the reflection of the direct flash in the man’s face is not doing this portrait any good.
Btw: is it some kind of a time-warp-back-to-the-future-photo? Since it’s titled ‘Eliot November 5 2014’… 😉 -
