Yea – I agree there isn’t enough foreground – I was driving home and didn’t even see these rainbows until I made a 90 degree turn – it was at my back most of the way home – and it was raining as you may expect. I didn’t have a plastic bag or anything to keep my camera dry so I just shot from the truck. The only foreground there was a little…[Read more]

wow- I love this image – great composition IMHO – well done – it is difficult to critique this image. I am a bit of a focus freak and find I am often disappointed in the “sharpness” of my own images. I think this would be an exceptional image if the person and boat were in sharp focus. I am finding it difficult to see where your focal point…[Read more]

I had increased the clarity on the last image posted Michael (still learning this sight and not sure how to enter other’s “tag” name here) and it does look a little flatter duller on this site than on my computer, but I am going to up clarity a little more I think and see how it looks. And I see I also overdid the center-line – since it is yell…[Read more]

Very cool Video – I can imagine it took a lot of set up to make that work. I might try the selective color just to see how it turns out. But I have to admit I am not all that crazy about selective color. Check It Out

So – I did a little more editing – I think I got a little more tonal contrast :), and took out some of the vignette. I shot this image with nikon D610 – I’m still getting used to it (recent purchase). I think the magenta cast to the color image may be from my polarizer filter. It’s not the best filter on the market. I shoot only RAW – and edit…[Read more]

Let me clarify my last post – I was referring to the depth of field when saying focal length – I am assuming you were shooting with the lens wide open – low number f-stop. Check It Out

Yea – I know we have all seen similar images – but I couldn’t resist. I did quite a bit of post processing – but starting to think I might have gone a little too far. I usually don’t do BW so Any input is welcome.

Nice shot – but the focal length looks to be very short – mother’s eye looks fairly close to being in focus but by the time you get to the tip of her beak it starts to blur a bit and the chick is starting to blur out as well as mother’s legs. Was your focus point on the mother’s chest? I am wondering if all of mom and chick were in sharp focus…[Read more]

mmm – I am not sure what you subject matter is here. My eyes just kind wondering about. There is just too much going on. Black and White Photography is a real skill – at least in my humble opinion. Over exposed or under exposed objects become a real issue. The foreground in this shot is underexposed and the background is washed out. I am not…[Read more]

Thanks for the feedback – getting a good composition in the field is always a challenge for me. I see your points here – and will keep them in mind when out there shooting – thanks again. Check It Out

I was on my way to work early this spring and mother nature gave me this opportunity. I think the objective is obvious – the sun rays through the clouds were visually spectacular.

I like the composition but I am finding the black negative space a little distracting – maybe a little coping is in order – a little off the right side, maybe a little off the top. I think it would be interesting to experiment with this composition with different apertures and a little backlighting off the right side; and slightly different angle…[Read more]
