Used this concept perhaps a little more successfully than my first go.
I’m not sure I used this concept correctly here, but hopefully you all can tell me if I’m on the right track?
Used this technique again with two very different results to catch my pup running in the woods….His happy place!

Thanks! My focus was a little all over the place in yesterday’s shoot. Was playing with AP mode and it changed my focus function and I had no idea what to do with it. Thanks so much for the MM suggestions for portraits. That will help a lot. I feel I’m always too close or too far away! Still working on light triangle and skin is, I’m learning, not very forgiving.
Ooh great idea for radial symmetry!
🤔 I think I agree and almost prefer your original shot of the three!
I like this; the dark line and pop of color are fun; kind of gives me a fashion or makeup blogger vibe. I like the second edit. I’d almost take out the pine too and leave it clean and stark, where it looks less like stairs outside. Could you bring up the whites and make them super white against the black stair?
Love that this photo tells the story of your journey in photography and editing. It’s beautiful and inviting and you should be proud!
The bright light through these twin crags caught my eye.

Thanks! I love your perspective. Went to another park yesterday and was surprised to start seeing faces in the rocks after reading your comment. One shot may be my symmetry challenge ;p
Hi Jim! I’m a week in here and have already learned so much. Everyone is very friendly and helpful.
Wow thanks! So much there that I would not have seen before.
These are incredible
I find this fascinating. I just keep coming back to it.
Wow! Thanks…that really does make that formation pop. I’ll have to play around and see what I can do!
This was fun. I got three keepers out of a hundred pics but I really am happy with these two. This was all new and challenged my new comfort with the exposure triangle too. Not 💯 on my edits but I’ll come back to them as I learn more.
d5000, Nikkor 55-200f f4.2, 1/20,65mm an ISO800 on first shot focus on horse and F8 second shot (wish I’d been at f6).
**critique my own; am I on the right track? The dark arena posed a challenge, but these may be clearer at 1/60. To achieve that, I probably couldn’t narrow my aperture but would maybe have been better off bumping ISO and using the faster shutter speed?).
Hi Steve, nice to see another new member. I’ll be joining in the challenges for the first time soon too. I also have a handful of teen daughters whose whims run my life lol.
