I’ve managed to have a little play around with the image again and done some cleaning up as well as dodge & burn. Not to sure if the image is a little too dark and need to lower the contrast a little?
Thank you so much for you’re reply 🙂 @lukas @michael-lloyd @yumarena

I’m kind of fond of the colors of the flag as I’m sure the young Marine was. That said I like the second version too. I agree with @lukas about the foreground
The image tells a story. You composed it well. Check It Out

@lukas – I think @el-dub hits the nail on the head. The spirit of the ST is to post USEFUL critique. Nobody is going to get horribly upset if a “nice shot” sneaks through as long as it is accompanied by some thoughtful ideas. 🙂Check It Out

This upgrade is basically to simplify navigation and user experience. Once that is sorted, I am going to be making a lot of big changes to the way the gallery works (including a nicer interface for viewing shots)Check It Out

@lukas I’m quite happy to hear your thoughts, like any photographer I simply reserve the right to disagree, sometimes.
Here’s a version that I cropped in and warmed up for your consideration.

Thanks for your input @lukas!
I suppose a zoomed in shot of the web would have it’s merits, I quite like the sense of height that having the expanse of greenery below conveys.
I once spent a year taking photos of rocks, without a horizon line to give a sense of scale, and that exercise helped me develop my personal sense of composition -…[Read more]

@lukas RE: Not supposed to say great shot. Lately, waaaay too many “critiques” here have been waaaay to nicey nice and not really critiques. Too much like Flickr. IMHO, saying “great shot” is OK if there is a real critique with real suggestions for alternatives to go along with it. I look at almost every post here and many critiques are a t…[Read more]
