@sengupta it is a great idea and one that you should return to but it is a little difficult to place him as a navigator or that he is on a boat as there is not much of the boat included in the shot. If you could move back a little further to include more of the boat in the image I think it would be more in keeping with the theme you have chosen.…[Read more]

the idea was to create high key image-so the white background ang white jugs. The problem with colour version is that ther is a little difference in white colours in two jugs-so I went to B&W.
out of focos jugs made in post-I’ve tried to shoot with wide aperture but to get an apple all sharp and the jugs completly out…[Read more] -

I guess it boils down to personal taste! Thank you everyone for your helpful comments ๐ @pkrohn, @yumarena, @sengupta, here is the updated version, cropped to hide that annoying leaf, one in black and white and one in colour. @pkrohn, unfortunately I can’t make the shades of black less strong without making the water droplets on the grass stand…[Read more]

@sengupta That means raising the shadows overall removed some contrast between light & dark, which is exactly what I loved about the 1st pic. Maybe a better option then would be to rather use the LR brush to lighten shadows on the mountain only? In fact I’d also darken the mountain on which the dome is situated just a tad but that’s not too…[Read more]

@sengupta Perhaps its just me but I feel that the 2nd pic has sacrificed some beautiful ‘gloss’ and looks flat (‘dull’) in comparison to the 1st. If it was mine I’d go back to the 1st photo and use the gradial filter in LR to bring down the exposure of the water reflections ONLY. You might still ligten the mountain on the right some by using the…[Read more]

Continious shooting mode will give you exactly the same as single shot, @sengupta – you’ll just have a series of shots to choose from. Check It Out

Haha that would be great @sengupta, but there was a huge shed behind me that stopped me from doing that! I agree I would have liked to do that though ๐Check It Out

Thanks for your comments @sengupta, I like the second one best too, but I was worried it might appear too edited. Can I just clarify, do you think I should crop it so that the leaf in the corner is not visible? (I hadn’t noticed that distracting element so thanks for pointing it out!). Check It Out

@sengupta – LR graduated filter is no different from other LR tools in terms of noise – almost all of them will give you some sort of undesirable result if taken to extremes! If you use the sliders within the GF in the same way that you would use them on the full image, you shouldn’t have any noise issues.
Go on. Be Brave!! ๐Check It Out -

@sengupta If you’re editing in LR then in the Tone Curve panel you may be able to just move the Dark slider to the right a little, without changing the overall exposure. You could then use the Graduated Filter if you still needed to reduce the contrast or saturation of the reflections.
Apologies if this is pointing out things well within your…[Read more]
