Semigloss Susandavid? Isn’t that like having your cake and eating it too? 🙂 Soft black and white images need soft matte paper. Bold BLACK and WHITE images.. now will they look good on matte? maybe semi gloss… now Canon or Nikon??? Hmmm?

Looks good TH. I promised you a HDR so here it is.
Taken in Blackall Queensland where I am working till Christmas. Three bracketed RAW exposures , converted with Rawshooter, processed in photomatix and then massaged in Photoshop with varying levels and contrast work and a final cross process layer in curves. Vignette added.
Canon 5D and Canon 24-105L at f8 and about 1/500th.

                  Running on Empty

Oops I just realised I took another blue hour photo.
The time of night you have to be very careful driving as the kangaroos will run smack bang into you. Outback Queensland near Blackall. Canon 5D and Canon 16-35L handheld ISO 400 and a little light from the cars headlights.Raw converted in Photoshop with levels of foreground adjusted separately.

                      Kangaroo Time

Your HDR work is streets ahead of tons of other overblown efforts I see on the net. Don’t change it too much.. buildings esp old or town buildings really pop when given the HDR treatment… and in that instance I am not averse to a little effect showing 🙂
I sometimes will blend a HDR with a regular PS processed image to find a middle ground.
this is one of my better HDR efforts made with Photomatix pro 3
