I can understand that could be the case sometimes. I was all the way in his shop near the back. I complied, after all, it was his shop! This is what I did get!
http://www.pbase.com/zeusatolympus/image/114603702I have been shooting in places that I was surprised I wasn’t approached by some sort of authority figure. I have been watched, but maybe they figured I was just an old guy with a camera.
I guess I am wondering what was going on when the U of S or the NSW police stepped in? How does one get in that situation? Just seems unless there is a big sign telling you “no cameras” that one would be good to go!

Cheat sheet! ???
I have never been hassled by police! The closest anything would be the time I was in a shop in Chinatown in Victoria BC. I was taking a shot of a figurine and over my shoulder the voice of the shopkeeper saying “Noooo Picture”. I was his shop so I did as he wished, I got one shot though! I was laughing about that for days!

Thoughts on printing! It can the toughest part of photography at least for me! Using the camera or computer is pretty easy in comparison! When something goes wrong most of the time it can be figured out easily. Printing is doable but not so easy.
I do a little of my own printing. I don’t have the space nor do I want the investment in the better printer I would want. It is just not worth it.
I have been through several printing services! Local and online!
The local guys were not very likable and didn’t seem to care if they got my business! It was mostly about attitude and they did me a favor because I looked elsewhere and found better prices and printing.
I tried shutter fly! There service is fairly good because every tine there was a problem they were all over it! The printing in mediocre at best and they tease you with deals that always have a short deadline so you never get a chance to use them.
I settled on SmugMug. They are great for so many reasons and have come through for me every time! Down load the printer profile and you will get pretty close to what you envisioned for your image. I did some test prints from Smug Mug, luster. matte. glossy. and metallic, plus what I have ordered. They were great!
That being said….
Each image has it own needs! Making the choice of which finish is a matter of taste, framing, glass treatment, where it’s going to be placed, etc. I have done prints that I wondered if I would change to another finish next time. A few! So! Matte or Glossy? Luster works as the default finish, but have realized that it’s better to be bold in your choices for print! You were bold when you took the shot. Why stop at the printing?Thoughts on printing! It can the toughest part of photography at least for me! Using the camera or computer is pretty easy in comparison! It’s probably the wave of the future with web content and also with web and TV on a converging course. I don’t want video in my DSLR, but I have been looking at a little point and shoot that has it for personal use. That’s only because I would love to record some of the conversations I have with the grand kids! Gut busting funny stuff and just repeating the story some how looses how funny they are without the look on their faces.
Stills freezes a moment in time. One Excellent Photo can have more impact than a video. The viewer can linger and study a still and a video just passes by soon to be replaced by another on the endless loop.
Do I remember a video watched say 5 years ago? Not really! Only when they come back around on the endless loop!
There are images seen over a lifetime that I still think about! They stay with me always!
Which has commercial viability? Video! Now we know how books feel! Remember those things? It’s probably the wave of the future with web content and also with web and TV on a converging course. I’ve had a life long interest and bought my first digital in 2001, A real game changer! I spend a lot of time on landscapes. I always have a camera with me and I shoot everything! I am always looking for ideas and opportunities. One thing photography has taught me is failure is a great teacher. That success is to be embraced, then move on the the next failure or success with grace. I have gone more places, real and imagined, and met wonderful people along the way! Photography has been very good to me though some days are better than others, but still, shoot like there is no tomorrow.

I might go out to First Beach at La Push on Sunday to shoot a storm! They are predicting wind and high surf. Also working on a project idea, so I may do some test shots with whoever is around to pose.
