Love this one! What a great spot and great capture. I especially love the textures. I like crop #1 more. Think the extra space above the building is nice.
Agree with posters here– the town itself feels like a bit of an afterthought here, and I think the clouds have too much contrast.
Agree, should definitely crop this!
Beautiful colors, Ed! I agree with Lenny here, however. There is no real subject, and my eye isn’t quite sure where to look beyond just the color. I would cut out the tree trunk entirely (or maybe adjust settings so it’s more than a silhouette) and get a much closer crop on this. I like the juxtaposition of the yellow leaves, blue skies and the trees in the background, but think this only works if you’re able to get the detail of the leaves in focus.
Wow, this is stunning. I personally love the yellow– it really gives it life and just pops off the screen. While it may not be realistic, that yellow does indeed exist in nature, so it does not come off as being fake to me. Not really a criticism, but couldn’t skip this without commenting.
I personally like the tongue– yes, it’s a little gross, but I feel that this photo has a gritty quality to it. The dog feels wild and rugged, which I like. The thing that really throws me off on this photo is that the dog isn’t looking at the camera. Its gaze upward really takes me out of the photo and makes the dog feel disconnected.
Of course, know it’s nearly impossible to get dogs to look where you want them to look, but think him looking directly at the camera would have made this much more impactful.
Thank you, everyone! Very much appreciate your critiques.
Wow, love this! Very cool and creative. I wish the image overall was a bit lighter, and had some more contrast. I think having a bit more light on the subject would add some more impact.
Thanks for posting this, Jilanette! I am still working through getting tack sharp shots as well, so all this feedback was very helpful to read through. Sorry I don’t have anything to add đŸ™‚
Cute cat! I wish you had either shown more of the ears, or cropped in even tighter. I think the noise in the photo distracts a bit, and makes it feel less sharp.
Wow this is extremely cool. Don’t really have any constructive feedback other than the aspect ratio feels a bit odd. Of course, realize you have to have it like that to get the full picture.
Very cool, congrats!
Wow, thank you so much, @Kent! This was awesome. (I’m so sorry to everyone for the delay– I was actually traveling in Europe for a couple of weeks and was trying to be “unplugged” as much as possible.)
I so appreciate everyone’s feedback on this shot. Know it isn’t perfect, but it makes me feel great to know that trying something different is well worth it. This is great encouragement to keep trying to get creative and not be afraid to try something out.
Thanks again for the feature, and congrats to the runners up as well! I LOVE the cardinal, what a great capture.
haha, i know, it’s a little too perfect in her hand there– good point
Of course, but great feedback to consider for next time!
Thank you, Bucweet! I actually didn’t clean up her hair at all– but I see what you’re saying. I will see if I can fix that.
Agree with you on the crop, wish I had gotten her other elbow in there ;/
Will play around with the sun and lens flare as well
Thanks, I personally love a good solar flare!
I like this, Rob. I actually like the color version more. I agree that the focus on your subject “the walkers” is missing here since they are so small– i wonder if a different crop might help?
Thank you, @3pco! Darn, you’re right, they are out of focus. Appreciate the insight here!
I like Anne’s edits of darkening the pants– not something I would have thought of, but think it makes the image feel much more dynamic as a whole.
