Allows Edits? YesI guess this image can’t really be judged from a cameracraft perspective as the manipulations take it into another realm altogether. The banana images are mine but the peeled skins are a from stock library. The rest is just manipulation in PS. Something different and creative which I thought may provoke some comments positive or otherwise. Interested to hear your thoughts.

Allows Edits? YesLOL! I thought someone might call me racist for implying that we’re all white inside but I didn’t expect red bananas! I never even knew they existed.
(whoever took it – that monkey shot is hilarious 🙂 )-

Allows Edits? YesThose red bananas have an amazing flavour and they are my most favourite ones. We have a lot of these where I grew up. You may find them sometimes in the markets Graham 🙂

Allows Edits? YesThanks Greg. It’s probably not really a Shark Tank type of post but I wasn’t sure where it belonged as it isn’t really a ‘photo’ as such. I was worried that I should even post it in LS as it might be straying from the main intent of the group – which is photography not manipulation and opinion pieces.
Having said that though, with the rise of digital editors like PS, LR, Affinity etc, I guess pretty well any digital image has been manipulated in some way or other. I am a very keen user of PS and this image was simply my way of learning more about masking, group layering, colour matching and more. I just hope I haven’t stepped over any boundaries in doing so.

Allows Edits? YesThanks Federico. Haven’t seen this before. Great to see variations on a theme. In my case, it was the old black banana sitting in my fridge after we returned from a holiday that first gave me the idea. Love this idea with hearts as the theme.

So true in some regards, so misleading in others Graham (by the way, the demonstration is excellent).
Down here on our part of the globe you’re not sure what you’re going to get after pealing the skin. Sometimes you get the most fantastic content. Other times you get a gene short-circuit – people able to commit the most horrific crimes and murders, for a total lack of reason (your wallet or cell phone is enough), on a LARGE scale (currently at an average of 58 murders per day – 99% of that committed by one race). I don’t want to say too much as that is not what your thread is about. 😉
A case in point: the rails between two neighbouring towns stolen overnight:

Allows Edits? YesI understand your POV well Tobie and I agree it is a pretty broad brush stroke I make. My wife recently began working with a lady from South Africa who emigrated here to Australia because of the crime and danger. She claims to have been robbed at gunpoint twice in her neighbourhood while living there. Desperate people do desperate things.
Australia is no saint when it comes to treatment of our indigenous population either. Alcohol abuse is one of the main problems and I see it on a daily basis in our city centre. I have even had to brake hard to avoid running over people passed out in the middle of the road. I do think however that most of these issues are fomented by racism at their core. It’s a hard complex nut to crack. I guess my post was a comment on the underlying cause of these problems.

Been there, done that – tw0 armed robberies at home (2015 & 2017). A couple of burglaries too. The robberies are usually committed by gangs who simply find this a much easier way of making money than a day job. For the remainder of the guys you simply do not leave anything outside – they even stole the lid from the steel housing of my water meter on the sidewalk, as well as my brass street number on my wall.
I don’t think someone who has not seen it will understand how bad it is. As the railway lines indicate, they’re bleeding the country dry. The latest trend is to carry away anything possible from our railway stations (not to mention stealing the overhead electric cables – big syndicates involved). Most neighbourhoods find themselves in the dark on a regular basis due to electric cable theft.
This was a beautiful station not too long ago and had a fait just like so many others (our once beautiful local train station looks very similar to this):

Desperate people do desperate things – my predecessors had experience of that during the Anglo Boer War against the Pommies not too long ago. The Brits followed a ‘scorched earth’ policy, burning down farms and locking up our women & children in concentration camps where 28 000 white people and 20 000 black people died. Never did the Boers steal anything in order to survive. They were forced to surrender to prevent more concentration camp deaths and then they started all over with nothing in hand. I can add more but I do not want to hijack this thread.

Allows Edits? YesHaving gone through the traumas as you have, I can understand your point of view Tobie. It’s something I can’t even begin to imagine what it must feel like. I probably see things through a different lens over here where violence isn’t really part of the problem.
This isn’t the forum for lengthy discussion on the subject but I will concede that the text overlay in my original image might be a little too inflamatory (not to mention a bit of a silly pun) so I think I’ll just leave you with my new version of the original post which I hope will allow people to interpret it in a more general way.

Ha ha! Good thinking! 😀
I must admit I am probably a bit over sensitive to the word ‘racism’ as here in our country it always refers to a white person doing something bad to a black person and never the other way around (in which case the same actions are quite acceptable). Interesting world we live in…

Hmmm……here is a quote from a recent Public TV program on bananas:
“What do Mona Lisa, Ice Cream and Goldfinger all have in common? They’re all varieties of bananas.
“Grown in more than 150 countries, it is widely believed there are more than 1,000 types of bananas in the world, which are subdivided into 50 groups. The most common is the Cavendish, the one most frequently produced for export markets.”
About racism,,,,,Martin Luther King,Jr. said it best. We need to live in a world where we are judged ” by the content of our character, not the color of our skin”.
