first: I’m not the only person from this field on the site: check @tersha ‘s album
second: the composition is heavily based on the fillings – when something is out of any kind of balance-it destoys the image-think about music-great music is about the harmony-any false pitch could be heard.
When I’ve seen the first picture the…[Read more] -

@gypsegrl
Thanks for asking my opinion-but be careful-90% from what I shoot is a crap!!
On the first pic there is a visual discrepency in sizes between objects (red seeds(?) are too small)
My winner is the second-putting red seeds on the leaf is a smart idea. I would crop a bit from the bottom to bring more balance in vertical dimension.And I…[Read more] -
Lenny Wollitz replied to the topic Red Ploka Dots in the forum The Shark Tank Feedback Forum 10y ago
@gypsegrl Hi Natasha! The bold colors are very common in Mazatlan but I have never seen the polka dots here or anywhere else in MX before. However there is another one with giant butterfly’s just down the street that might be interesting too but is usually has crappy cars parked in front of it. Re-shooting is no problem as it is 200 meters from…[Read more]

HI, @gypsegrl, I like the composition, but not sure about the cloth background….did you intend it to be creased, or would it look better ‘ironed’ flat?Check It Out

About f32. When I’ve started shooting still lifes I’d found that using the “normal” apertures with zoom around 85-90 mm on crop sensor doesn’t satisfy my demands to DOF. Then I’ve looked at some tutorials on the WEB and had found this set. I have some pic with f22 and can see how limited even…[Read more] -

Just my two cents about untuition: when one learns the rules and other art stuff-the intuition became more sophisticated as well and could be trusted to a larger extent-from my own experience…:)

@falx @gypsegrl It is a Rio real beach scene. In Copacabana the major people are old. Even the ladies are not interacting with the dog, they compose the scene (I think). First you look to the dog, then you see two ladies walking or vice-versa.
About the PS, I do not use/have.

@gypsegrl: The “rules” are good to know. In fact, I think it is essential to know them and one great place to learn them is to go to an art museum and spend time with the masters. And as you are looking at some of the world’s great works of art, try to determine if their creators followed the rules or bent them. You’ll see that intuition or…[Read more]
