Thanks Tobie. I think I have cropped it without paying much attention to the building on the right. I will fix it, thanks for highlighting it – much appreciated
Thanks Eric, I appreciate it mate. I’ll play around with the contrast and the vignette as you have suggested.
@ndjetfan, very good timing to capture the eagle with its wing opened…but since you have put it in ST, I would focus mainly on what in my personal opinion didn’t work well in this photo – I think that the image is soft..perhaps because of the distance, 400mm with full frame camera doesn’t give you that much range.
In my opinion the shutter speed of 1/500 is not fast enough to freeze the bird, you may freeze the wings of big birds with this speed, but small head movement etc may give you a soft photo….from my personal experience of bird photography, I suggest you to go with a faster shutter speed…you shoot with 5D Mark III…it has very good high ISO capabilities…you can definitely go higher than ISO 100 to get a faster shutter speed.
thanks @elax
@bobbie thanks Bobbie. I appreciate it very much.
Grey heron

Thanks @mistyisle – much appreciated. As you rightly said, really lucky to have so many nice comments and summaries.
Please could you elaborate a bit on the last sentence…sorry I couldn’t quite get it….I am very new to this forum, so if I have missed to follow any rule/instruction, please do let me know, I will immediately get it corrected.
Thanks
Thanks everyone for your valuable feedback, I appreciate it very much.
I’ll work on brightening up the church…the empty space of sky I am leaving it as is for the time being as I wanted to submit this photo for a magazine.
Thanks @annebee for the tips on using flash in a backlit situation though not applicable for this image…I use fill flash usually for birds…thanks to the modern technology of high speed sync that allows faster shutter speed to be used with sppedlight.
@3pco, as you noticed that with some room in right, perhaps the same amount of space as in left side of the photo, I agree it could have been a better composition – I don’t remember why I used such a tight composition at that time. But certainly a very good point to remember in future when making an image. I am leaving the people in there, as some magazines/websites don’t allow image data to be manipulated, also I think without the people being there viewer wont be able to sense how grand the subject/the church is…as the comparison will be lost.
@kent, thanks for pointing out the highlight area on the bottom left…I will fix it. Also, your tips on creating the hierarchy between subject and secondary items is very much appreciated.Again, can’t thank you all enough for taking time to write down your comment and suggestions.
cheers
Thanks Mistyisle for taking time to review the image and provide your feedback, I appreciate it very much. You are right, I could have taken it from an angle covering more of the right..I remember the place was quite narrow but don’t remember if the right side had some distraction which I wanted to avoid…nevertheless its a good suggestion which I would certainly apply whenever I get chance to photograph such scenes. Thanks again.
Thanks @tobiepsg. Looking forward to get your feedback on my photographs and learn form you.
