@tombeecroft just in hindsight (sorry, sometimes the brain is a bit slow): a foreground with trees work well in photo’s like this when you paint light onto the trees using a flashlight – I usually prefer a non-white light – a little red / yellow in it. In that even you might actually bring in more foreground but I’d still bring in more stars too,…[Read more]

Personally I prefer the first version-the sky is a strong part of composition and in vertical crop it’s much less a “player”…Check It Out

@tombeecroft
Photography is widely perceived as the Art of PHOTOGRAPHY to distinguish it from other visual art’s types.
I have to agree with @admin -there is very little of photography in the image…actually there is nothing to commentCheck It Out -

Thank you @karamen, @tombeecroft and @camerasinger for all the suggestions, picking the soft focus and reminding that nothing less than tack sharp is acceptable. The eye seemed reasonably sharp but is not tack sharp either I admit.
The bird is of a small size about 12cm. The pic was taken from 20 feet away with a 400mm at f/5.6 for 1/1500sec…[Read more]

Hi @esotericvision,
I agree with @tombeecroft in that the figures are too small for a “subject in context” shot. They get lost in the image and don’t provide any value. I cropped the image, converted it to black and white, increased the contrast, and overlaid a grid so you could see where the people fall in relation to the rule of thirds. Even…[Read more]

thank you @tombeecroft for the feedback, the sun position actually at the back from this angle of view, this photo was taken on a pier
I’ve post a higher resolution of this photo and I hope you can give more detailed feedback. -

I really wish there was a high-res version. I am astonished by how much detail @tombeecroft seems to see in this small one but I fully go along with what he said.
I know that perhaps I should not say that but my eye keeps getting drawn to that watermark as the most powerful elements in that small version apart from the sky and perhaps those 3…[Read more]

You call it “Reflections” but somehow the reflection part is not the main player here.
To be honest, the image doesn’t grab my attention. There seems to be no main thing, just a little bit of this and a little bit of that. That man on that wall, is he of any importance?
The colours are a blueish-grey, a bit on the dull side and as @tombeecrof…[Read more]
