I was only one day in London and had only three hours spare to walk around. I just got to take a few pictures. This is one of them. 1/750s, f/4,5, ISO 160, 16mm.

        Click for bigger. Is better.

you grabbed quite a few wonderful photos for only having a few hours.  love the tones on this one, it has a 3d look to it.  i wouldn’t mind seeing a pano crop with the bottom removed.

the only big issue i see is the cloud just above and left of the bridge.  there’s a large blown area, once i saw it i couldn’t unsee it.  there’s a few other blown clouds in the sky, but that one is distracting due to the size and location.

Thanks, Beth. You are so right now I can’t unsee it too!

Here’s a version without that blown-out cloud and one with a pano crop without the bottom.

I don’t think I have ever actually seen the Tower Bridge taken in Black and white. And the ones I have seen always seem to wait for a red bus. lol

So I think this is quite effective. I like it!

The Tower Bridge, London Bridge was finished in 1894. There was no color neg yet so there must be images in B&W. 🙂

I especially like the pano view. There is 1 small blow-out in the cloud above the center of the bridge. When the large part was over-exposed, I didn’t notice the small bit.

Thank you. I agree, the pano works best, it makes the tower more powerful. I see what you mean by the blown-out part in the cloud, but on my computer, when I check the whites, blacks, and Highlights it is not blown out. My Whites are at -7 but I need to crank it up to +24 before I see any clipping and if I crank it up, the white clipping occurs first at another part of the image.

I should always include the “on my monitor” phrase when commenting on these sorts of issues. I have found that my histogram might show no blown highlights when an area has lost texture—it is truly unrecoverable—and further exposure attempts even in a small area simply darkens it, making it an ugly smudge.
