This stunning señorita was at a booth selling motor cycle accessories at a biker event here. She was very busy but gave me this pose. I made a few minor adjustments plus noise reduction and sharpening but she was almost perfect to start with. 1/40, f2.8, 60mm APS-C, iso100. The shutter speed was too slow so she is a bit soft but I kinda like it. What do you think?

Allows Edits? YesNice portrait Lenny. I don’t see any major problem here. Maybe a little bit lighten face/skin (cos I miss light here) and especially eyes.

You certainly have a knack for finding interesting looking people. But she is way underexposed. Try bringing her up a full stop, even if you blow out the sky a little.

Allows Edits? YesLove it, but, as stated above, I would lighten it considerably.

I guess the “needs more light” votes have it. I want to keep the light soft, how is this?
Allen, meeting interesting people in Mazatlan when you are a non-threatening 70 year old gringo guy is not a problem. Most of people here love having their photos made helps too. -

I think you could brighten her more and pull back on the brightness of the background too Lenny.Your second edit still feels a bit dull to me. Maybe something like this?

Hi Rob, OK this is lighter. I am in the process of re-learning 2 programs and learning one new one and so this is a bit of practice. Thanks for the input!

Allows Edits? YesI brightened up her face, removed a few spots on the shot and slightly darkened the sky.

Allows Edits? YesThere is something in the sky – is that smoke or something? It appears more in my version, but it’s always there.
Also, uploading here seems to be a bit “darkening” – anyone else noticed that? Here is literally the LR and that uploaded image side by side (the one on the right is literally the one I exported and uploaded to get the one on the left).

Yes Rob. I also noticed that my edit was darkened when uploaded.

Hey Rob, this was shot at twilight in a huge parking lot with about 50 vendor stalls and a huge bandstand with LOUD rock and roll with ambient and more than one kind of lighting. The sky does not have any identifiable features because of the f2.8 and is almost to to the point of being blown out. There are so many edits of edits now that I think I will just toss them all and start over keeping the suggestions here in mind.
The one on the left looks darker to me.
NEW WEB LOOK QUESTION. I’m not much of a on-line social user, what are the little icons under “participant”, contender etc, and what are accomplishments?

Allows Edits? Yes@el-dub – They are just little “achievement” badges for people who do certain things from now on. https://lightstalking.com/achievements/
Under that are Flickr and Instagram icons if you have updated your profile to include them.

Allows Edits? Yes@el-dub I have more suggestions Lenny. She is beautiful. Rob, I hadn’t noticed a darkening when uploading.
Lenny I took your 2nd image because I think it’s softer than your 3rd. Her look is “harsher” in the third image. I also wondered what color is her dress? It looks like a “dirty white” (too much blue) but maybe it’s faded lavender? So I have 2 versions that try to avoid that issue. In both I kept her skin soft, only lightening a bit, and put a few highlights in her hair. Agree that sky is better darker. Have fun!

Anne, thanks for the ideas! Maybe one more edit than I’m done. This photo reminds me…. I once asked a musician friend when his band knew they had practiced a song enough. His reply was “when we’re sick of it”! It will be used on a tourism web site that will mostly be viewed on phones so this will be OK. This has been fun to play with but I don’t think I want a new profession as a re-toucher 😉
